The Director of Programs, also known as The Director of Mission Control, will lead leaders, track, and manage all aspects of programs to help Program managers achieve all strategic, contractual, and tactical milestones from the time that a new program is awarded to the final delivery of contracted intellectual and physical product to the customer. This role will also bear responsibility for supporting the organization's strategic direction, as well as creating and managing long term goals that align with our corporate values.

Description

Expected Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

2) Responsible for the Program management team, program management (Mission Control) performance overall, successful program execution, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.

3) Maintain effective communication on all aspects of the program among the team and the client to ensure all goals, tasks, and deliverables are understood clearly throughout the entire program.

4) Maintain effective and positive communication with the program’s customers to ensure a strong relationship and positive supplier rating. Anticipate customer needs and provide services that are beyond customer expectations.

5) Communicate project status, scope change information and recovery plans to all stakeholders.

6) Be a positive role model and inspirational leader for the mission control team.

7) Support, lead, and delegate the Mission Control team’s responsibilities and tasks through all stages of the project life cycle.

8) Effectively lead individual program manager’s success to improve project performance.

9) Work with leadership to track resource requirements and resource usage on each program using clearly defined metrics. Monitor and track metrics for future project baseline estimates.

10) Ensure problems are transparent and risks are identified, and proactively ensure that risk mitigating actions are on-going within the teams.

11) Develop and implement a repeatable and scalable new product development process which ensures flawless execution (Technical, Budget, and Schedule) of all product development programs.

12) Support key decisions by working cross-functionally across departments to achieve program objectives.

13) Develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures, and set operational goals.

14) Acquire resources for projects and processes, provide technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.

15) Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and other crew members.

16) Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.

17) Review and acknowledge customer contracts/PO's, RFP's, Coord Memos, SOW.

18) Perform other duties as assigned.

Expected Hours of Work

Salaried crew members are generally expected to work a baseline of 40 hours per week, although a priority is placed on achieving results rather than tracking time.


Supervisory Responsibility

The Director of Mission Control has the responsibility of all the Program Managers, Program Planners, and Contracts Administrators.


Physical Requirements

This role requires sitting, walking, or standing for several hours at a time. This role requires the ability to lift up to 15 pounds, open cabinets, bend, or stand on a stool as needed. 


Work Environment

This job operates in an indoor office environment and routinely interacts with other crew members and customers. This role routinely uses both paper and electronic record keeping systems and communication equipment.


Travel Requirements

Occasional overnight travel is expected for this position.


Required Experience and Education

o   Bachelor of Science in engineering or program management discipline.

o   5 years of leading professionals

o   8 years of experience working professionally in program management, project management, project engineering, or an equivalent technical role.

o   2 years of experience in the aerospace industry.


Additional Qualifications

o   Must be 18 years of age or older.

o   Must pass background check and drug screen upon offer of employment.

o   Project Management Professional certification is a preferred.


Work Authorization

Eligibility to work in the United States is required, as is compliance with U.S. export control regulations.
