Job Description:

The Social Work Intern will have the opportunity to work directly with individuals and families living with developmental disabilities, gaining hands-on experience and insight into the unique challenges and needs of this population. The intern will have the chance to assist in providing direct support and services, participating in case management and care planning, and engaging in community outreach initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with social work and support service professionals in assessing the needs of individuals and families with developmental disabilities
• Assisting in developing and implementing personalized care plans and social support services
• Participating in providing individual and group counseling or therapeutic interventions
• Engaging in outreach and advocacy efforts within the community to raise awareness and support for individuals with developmental disabilities
• Contributing to the measurement and evaluation of the impact of support services on individual and family well-being
• Assisting in the facilitation of training programs and mentorship opportunities for both service providers and individuals with developmental disabilities

Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's level Social Work program
• Compassion and empathy for individuals and families living with developmental disabilities
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team and engage with diverse populations
• Knowledge or interest in the field of Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities
• Commitment to upholding ethical standards and confidentiality
