Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Project Manager with a strong background in IT and legal processes to oversee and manage projects at the intersection of technology and law. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating IT-related legal projects, including data privacy, cybersecurity, software licensing, compliance with technology regulations, and digital transformation initiatives. This role requires expertise in both legal frameworks and IT project management, along with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- IT Legal Project Management:
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of IT-related legal projects, such as data protection initiatives, software compliance, and cybersecurity risk management.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and IT strategies.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
- Compliance & Regulatory Management:
- Ensure all IT projects comply with relevant legal regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and other data privacy and protection laws.
- Oversee the implementation of IT policies and procedures that align with legal standards and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with legal and IT teams to conduct risk assessments and audits related to IT compliance.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Act as the primary liaison between the IT department, legal team, and external vendors, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on project goals and deliverables.
- Facilitate communication between technical and legal teams to translate complex IT issues into legal terms and vice versa.
- Conduct regular project meetings and provide status updates to IT and legal leadership.
- Contract & Vendor Management:
- Manage contracts related to IT services, software licensing, and technology partnerships, ensuring legal terms are clear, enforceable, and aligned with the organization’s objectives.
- Work closely with the procurement and legal teams to negotiate terms, review vendor compliance, and manage contract lifecycles.
- Data Privacy & Security:
- Lead initiatives to strengthen the organization’s data privacy and cybersecurity posture, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with IT security teams to develop and implement data protection strategies, incident response plans, and security awareness programs.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for IT legal projects, including project plans, compliance reports, and risk assessments.
- Prepare and present regular reports on project status, compliance outcomes, and risk management to senior leadership.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance IT legal processes, streamline workflows, and implement best practices for managing technology-related legal matters.
- Lead the adoption of new tools and technologies that support legal compliance and IT governance.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Law, Business Administration, or a related field. A JD or equivalent legal degree, or a Master’s in IT, is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT project management, with at least 2 years focused on legal or compliance-related projects.
- Proven track record in managing complex IT legal projects, such as data privacy compliance, software licensing, or cybersecurity initiatives.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software development, cybersecurity, and data privacy laws.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, or similar).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and legal teams.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and navigate complex legal and technical challenges.
- Certifications:
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is preferred.
- CIPP/IT (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Information Technology) or similar certifications are a plus.
