Independent Contractor / 1099 Position
Location: Norman, Oklahoma
Work Setting: In-office, with potential hybrid flexibility after onboarding
Reports to: Clinical Director
Inner Circle Mental Health is seeking two licensed mental health professionals to join our team as 1099 independent contractors providing therapy services in our Norman, Oklahoma office.
We specialize in working with first responders, veterans, emergency personnel, healthcare workers, and others in high-trauma or high-stress professions. The ideal candidate is clinically strong, culturally responsive to first responder populations, and interested in trauma-focused work.
This position is best suited for clinicians who want the independence of contract work while having the support of an established clinical team, furnished office space, scheduling support, billing support, marketing, credentialing assistance, and an EHR system already in place.
Contract therapists at Inner Circle provide outpatient mental health services to clients while maintaining responsibility for their own clinical licensure, liability insurance, taxes, and independent contractor requirements.
Inner Circle provides:
Contractors choose their own schedule, with final approval from the Clinical Director. Our highest clinical need is currently evening availability, and candidates open to early morning, evening, or weekend appointments are strongly preferred.
This is a percentage-based contractor position.
Contract therapists receive 60% of the amount actually collected from the client or insurance company for each completed paid session.
Contract payroll is processed every two weeks.
Because compensation is based on collected revenue, payment may vary depending on payer mix, reimbursement rates, client attendance, no-shows, late cancellations, and insurance collections.
Based on a recent contractor average collected amount of approximately $111.69 per paid session, the therapist portion would be approximately $67.02 per completed paid session.
Estimated income may look like:
Sessions Per WeekEstimated Weekly Contractor PayEstimated Monthly Contractor Pay
20 sessions/week~$1,340/week~$5,808/month
25 sessions/week~$1,675/week~$7,259/month
30 sessions/week~$2,010/week~$8,711/month
These are estimates only and will vary based on actual collections and client attendance. Contractor is responsible for paying applicable taxes, Inner Circle does not take these out of payments.
With larger caseloads, no-shows and late cancellations may reduce completed paid sessions by up to approximately 10%.
It typically takes approximately 60–90 days to complete onboarding and credentialing, and approximately three months to build toward a full caseload of 25–30 clients per week.
We are looking for clinicians interested in building toward approximately 20–30+ clients per week, depending on availability, preferred schedule, and clinical fit.
Inner Circle fills the therapist’s schedule through internal referrals, marketing, front office support, and community partnerships.
Selected contractors will have the opportunity to complete ResponderReady Clinician Certification, a $3,100 training value. This training is a core part of how Inner Circle prepares clinicians to work effectively with first responders, veterans, and high-trauma populations.
Inner Circle also provides in-house CEU opportunities as available.
Clinical team meetings are held on Wednesdays at 1:00 PM. Attendance is optional and unpaid for contractors, but contractors are encouraged to attend when available. These meetings provide connection to the clinical team, support around complex cases, and insight into Inner Circle’s clinical culture.
This position does not have a set schedule. Contractors may choose their own availability, with final schedule approval from the Clinical Director.
We are especially interested in candidates who can offer:
Evening availability is strongly preferred due to current client demand.
This is primarily an in-office position at Inner Circle Mental Health in Norman, Oklahoma. Hybrid flexibility may be considered after the initial onboarding period, depending on clinical need, schedule consistency, and client fit.
The ideal candidate is a licensed clinician who wants to serve high-trauma populations without having to manage the full administrative burden of private practice.
This person is clinically grounded, reliable, professional, and interested in being part of a team that deeply understands first responder and veteran culture. They are comfortable with independent contractor work but value having billing, scheduling, marketing, office space, consultation, and team support provided.
