We are seeking experienced Data Architects to support the Offender-Based Information System (OBIS) Modernization Project Data Warehouse Team. This role is responsible for designing and implementing enterprise data architecture solutions that ensure scalability, performance, governance, and high-quality data across the organization. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, Azure data platforms, and enterprise data governance, along with the ability to guide teams and influence strategic data initiatives.

Description

Enterprise Data Architecture & Modeling

  • Develop and maintain logical and physical data models aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Design data architecture solutions including:
  • Operational Data Stores (ODS)
  • Data Warehouses
  • Data Marts
  • Create and document source-to-target mappings for data integration and transformation.

Data Standards, Governance & Quality

  • Establish and enforce standards for:
  • Metadata management
  • Naming conventions
  • Reference data
  • Define and implement data quality rules ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain comprehensive data lineage documentation.

Data Acquisition & Optimization

  • Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to define data requirements.
  • Design data ingestion, transformation, and distribution strategies.
  • Optimize batch data processing, error handling, and recovery mechanisms.

Architecture Guidance & Project Support

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on data architecture best practices.
  • Guide development teams on modeling techniques and integration approaches.
  • Ensure alignment of solutions with enterprise strategy and requirements.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Produce and maintain documentation for:
  • Models
  • Data flows
  • Mappings
  • Governance artifacts
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
  • Continuously improve data architecture frameworks and processes.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience with large-scale database systems.
  • 7+ years of ETL/data engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Azure experience, including:
  • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Azure Databricks
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Azure Purview
  • Proven experience building high-performance ETL pipelines.
  • Strong expertise in:
  • SQL (advanced level)
  • Python, Spark, or Scala
  • Experience with data governance, RBAC, and security frameworks in Azure.
  • Ability to design resilient, scalable, and compliant data processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS platforms (S3, Data Sync, Data Warehousing).
