We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Curriculum Specialist to join our dedicated autism program at the elementary level. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive educational plan that caters to the diverse needs of students with autism spectrum disorders.


Position Type: Exempt/Salary

 

Hours:  


  • 200 day school year (additional days available if desired) 
  • Mondays - Friday, 7:30AM-3:30PM
  • May include occasional evenings and weekends as needed for school and marketing events 



Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and adapt curriculum materials and educational programs that meet the needs of students with autism.
  • Assess students and utilize assessment data for individual programming for students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to provide training and support in the implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Ensure the curriculum is aligned with state standards and incorporates principles of direct instruction and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum and make adjustments as necessary to optimize student learning and success.
  • Serve as a resource to parents and caregivers, providing guidance on effective strategies to support their children’s education.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Valid South Dakota Special Education endorsement.
  • Experience in curriculum development or instruction within a special education setting.
  • Knowledgeable in direct instruction methodologies.
  • Foundational understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and its application in educational settings.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
