Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop logical and physical database designs in support of EHRM applications and interfaces.
  • Support migration of legacy health system data to new EHR platforms, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct database performance assessments and implement tuning, indexing, and optimization strategies.
  • Support configuration management and requirement traceability for database-related changes.
  • Collaborate with programmers and integration teams to ensure smooth data exchange (HL7, FHIR, and other healthcare standards).
  • Document database architectures, updates, and data models in VA repositories.
  • Ensure compliance with VA TRM standards, Zero Trust security principles, and Section 508 accessibility requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, or related discipline.
  • 5 years of professional experience in database development or administration.
  • Proficiency in SQL and database management tools.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and interoperability frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery practices.
  • Experience working with Cerner (Oracle Health) electronic health record solutions and prior involvement with the VA Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program is strongly preferred.

Deliverables:

  • The Database Architect shall deliver database design documentation capturing logical and physical designs.
  • The Database Architect shall deliver ETL and integration scripts for database connectivity and transformation.
  • The Database Architect shall deliver unit and integration testing reports for database solutions.
  • The Database Architect shall deliver database configuration documentation reflecting baselines and version tracking.
  • The Database Architect shall deliver knowledge transfer documentation to preserve database design and maintenance procedures.

Clearance Requirement:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust / Moderate Risk clearance.

Salary

$116 - $151,000 per year
