ABOUT THE ROLE
iAdeptive Technologies is looking for a BA Automation Test Engineer to drive quality across an Enterprise Data & AI Platform supporting a federal health agency. You will work across the user-facing portal, experience platform, data governance and trust layer, and intelligence platform, translating business and data requirements into clear test scenarios and then building the automation to validate them.
This is a hands-on role that combines business analysis discipline with modern test automation. You will write user stories and acceptance criteria, map business rules to test coverage, and build reliable automated tests across both React-based frontend applications and backend APIs. You will work closely with product owners, architects, developers, and stakeholders in an agile team operating within a federal AWS environment.
You are not just testing what was built. You will help shape what gets built by identifying testability gaps, clarifying requirements, strengthening acceptance criteria, and making quality part of the development process from the start.
HOW WE WORK
Translate Requirements Into Quality — You turn business, data, and technical requirements into structured acceptance criteria, test scenarios, traceability, and automated coverage. You understand both what the system needs to do and how to prove it works.
Automate Across the Stack — You own automation across the React frontend and backend APIs, building reusable frameworks and regression suites that give the team confidence to ship.
Quality From the Start — You work alongside product and engineering throughout the delivery lifecycle, identifying gaps before they become defects and integrating automated validation into CI/CD rather than treating testing as a final step.
Built for Real Users and Real Data — You validate permissions, business rules, accessibility, data integrity, audit requirements, and critical workflows so the platform works correctly for the people and systems that depend on it.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Business Analysis & Test Design
- Partner with product owners, BAs, architects, and developers to analyze requirements across portal modules and integrated platforms
- Write user stories, acceptance criteria using Given/When/Then, and detailed test scenarios
- Translate business rules into test coverage, including entitlements, row-level security, validation rules, and audit/logging requirements
- Define test data requirements and maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and automated coverage
- Review solution designs and architecture documents to identify testability gaps and potential quality risks
- Support UAT planning, defect triage, release validation, and sign-off
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
Frontend Test Automation
- Design and maintain UI automation frameworks using Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent tools
- Build automated regression coverage for React-based applications, including critical workflows and end-to-end user journeys
- Validate role-based access controls, permissions, and user experiences across different user types
- Implement AI-assisted testing workflows that can analyze application behavior, generate test scenarios, execute validation steps, identify failures, and assist with defect triage and root-cause analysis
- Perform cross-browser and responsive design validation
- Incorporate accessibility validation against WCAG and Section 508 requirements
- Perform visual and regression validation for critical portal pages
- Integrate UI automation into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or equivalent
- Build and maintain synthetic test data for repeatable and environment-safe testing
API Test Automation
- Develop reusable API automation frameworks and test suites using PyTest, REST Assured, Karate, Postman/Newman, or equivalent
- Validate API contracts, request/response schemas, versioning, error handling, and business workflows
- Test authentication and authorization flows, including SSO, JWT, RBAC, and ABAC
- Validate workflow APIs, including create, approval, and status-transition scenarios
- Validate audit and logging requirements, including correlation IDs and required metadata
- Test pagination, filtering, rate limiting, throttling, and API Gateway integrations
- Perform OpenAPI/Swagger contract validation, negative testing, security testing, and performance smoke testing
- Automate environment-specific test execution across development, test, and UAT environments
- Manage test secrets securely using AWS Secrets Manager or equivalent
- Design and implement AI-assisted API testing workflows that can analyze API contracts and business rules, generate positive and negative scenarios, execute API workflows, validate responses and data, and assist with failure analysis
- Build client simulators when required for integration testing
Quality Engineering & DevSecOps
- Maintain reusable test frameworks, libraries, page objects, API clients, and test data utilities
- Champion shift-left testing through unit and integration test collaboration, pre-merge checks, and automated smoke and regression gates
- Integrate automated testing into Git-based CI/CD workflows
- Track quality metrics such as pass rates, defect trends, flaky tests, and coverage gaps
- Work with developers to improve testability through stable test IDs, mock services, test accounts, and role configurations
- Document test strategies, automation standards, and release validation procedures
- Validate deployment and rollback procedures as part of CI/CD release gates
- Support defect investigation and root-cause analysis across application, API, data, and infrastructure layers
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years of software QA or quality engineering experience with demonstrated experience in both business analysis/test design and test automation
- 3+ years of hands-on web UI automation using Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar tools

- Experience validating ServiceNow or Jira workflows
- ISTQB or equivalent QA certification
- Enterprise security testing experience
