Huntersville Veterinary Clinic is a privately owned, single-doctor small animal practice offering routine preventive and sick care as well as surgical and dental services to dogs and cats. We’re a small, dedicated team committed to compassionate, low-stress patient care, client education, and strengthening the human-animal bond. Our modern clinic and Shepherd cloud-based medical records provide the tools needed to deliver excellent care, but our 5-star staff is the key to our success.
We’re looking for a veterinary assistant who is compassionate, flexible, and enthusiastic.
Schedule
Part-time: Approximately 15 hours/week
Office hours:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 7:30 AM–5 PM
- Wednesday: 7:30 AM–12 PM
- No boarding, overnight hospitalization, or grooming
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient flow from check-in through discharge and maintain accurate medical records.
- Assist with collecting/preparing laboratory samples, performing diagnostic testing and preparation of medications and treatments as directed.
- Provide safe and compassionate patient restraint for examinations and procedures including IV catheter placement, venipuncture, and vaccination.
- Assist with preparation of supplies and equipment.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients.
- Maintain a clean, stocked, organized clinic and assist with inventory and reception duties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, be flexible, calm, and compassionate in a sometimes fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Ability to safely and respectfully handle canine and feline patients.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance as needed and remain active throughout the workday, including standing, kneeling, and bending.
- Comfortable working around bodily fluids, sharps, anesthetic agents, medical gases, and veterinary chemicals with appropriate safety training.
- Ability to perform hands-on clinical procedures and wear required PPE/radiation protection.
Preferred
- 1+ year of experience as a veterinary assistant.
- Previous animal care or medical training.
- Spanish fluency is a plus.
