SEASONAL JANITOR 

This is a Seasonal, Temporary non-exempt position, not to exceed 960 hours annually. The  position performs a variety of janitorial services to ensure a safe and clean environment to various  areas of the Humboldt County Fair facility.  

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED 

Janitor reports to the Regular Janitor position, who receives direction from the Chief Executive  Officer. No direct reports.  

EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Illustrative Only)

⮚ Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains offices, breakrooms, buildings, restrooms, eating areas, and other common areas. 

⮚ Dusts, cleans, and sanitizes counters, doorknobs, light switches, furniture, handrails, etc.

⮚ Vacuums, cleans, carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, draperies, etc. 

⮚ Sweeps, mops, sanitizes, scrubs, waxes, and buffs floors. 

⮚ Gathers and disposes waste materials and trash properly in disposal area, replaces liners, and cleans receptacles as necessary. 

⮚ Restocks supplies in restrooms, break rooms, and common areas. 

⮚ Maintains janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, organized condition. 

⮚ Uses standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment to complete tasks.

⮚ Uses various cleaning and sanitizing tools and equipment by following occupational hazard prevention and safety rules. 

⮚ Secures potentially hazardous areas (e.g., wet floor, leaking ceiling) using signs, caution tape, or barricades. 

⮚ Wears proper personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, googles) and always works in a safe work environment. 

⮚ Performs other related duties as assigned or requested when needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

⮚ Knowledge of general cleaning. 

⮚ Follows oral and written instructions. 

⮚ Excellent customer service and ability to work cooperatively with team members and others.

WORKING CONDITIONS 

⮚ Work is performed indoors and outdoors. 

⮚ Involves exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, chemicals, and unpleasant odors.

⮚ Stands, walks, and/or moves for sustained periods. 

⮚ Moves objects at least 50 pounds. 

⮚ Works a flexible schedule including days, nights, and weekends as necessary.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS 

Employees work indoors and outdoors.
