GATE ATTENDANT
This is a Temporary non-exempt position, not to exceed 200 hours annually. The position is responsible for welcoming guests to the annual Humboldt County Fair. This position provides excellent customer service for the Fair.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Gate Attendant(s) report to the Association’s Admissions Coordinator. No direct reports.

⮚ Monitors the admission of fair patrons, guests, staff, exhibitors and contractors for proper ticket or credential, before allowing them to enter.
⮚ Provides excellent customer service by interacting courteously, answering questions accurately, and resolving complaints for customers attending events.
⮚ Checks and scans gate admission tickets, concert tickets, passes, badges, and other admission items and resolves any scanning issues in a timely and courteous manner.
⮚ Prevents the admittance of persons without tickets or credentials at ticket gate.
⮚ Understands and explains ticketing policies and procedures to customers.
⮚ Follows opening and closing procedures for gates assigned.
⮚ Provides hand stamps to customers who are temporarily leaving the facilities.
⮚ Operates ticket scanning equipment and provides guidance for other employees in its proper uses, as appropriate.
⮚ Performs other related duties as assigned or requested when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented and quick learner.
• Must be able to quickly learn the layout of the fairgrounds and general fair information.
• Ability to work cooperatively with team members and others.
WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The work environment is at gate entrances.
⮚ Will work in a fast-paced environment, in a outdoor, and indoor environment.
⮚ Work may involve some exposure to weather conditions, dust, dirt, and exhaust fumes.
⮚ Ability to stay stationary, sit, and/or stand for extended periods.
⮚ Repetitive motions when using ticket scanners.
⮚ Move supplies up to 20 pounds.
⮚ Works a flexible schedule including night, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing Association policies and procedures.
$16.5 - $20 per hour
