Hope In Her (HIH) is dedicated to eradicating health inequities and enhancing the overall well-being of black girls and women. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support to survivors of interpersonal violence while advocating for policy and structural changes that challenge the adultification of black girls. Hope In Her is a nonprofit organization committed to eradicating health inequities and improving the lives of Black girls and women. Through trauma-informed programming, advocacy, and direct services, we work to dismantle the systems that perpetuate the adultification of Black girls, gender-based violence, and community disinvestment.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement & Programming

• Organize, support, or co-host community-based events such as wellness workshops, support groups, or youth events.
• Identify emerging needs or relevant issues affecting Black girls and women in their region and communicate them to national leadership.
• Collaborate with local schools, health clinics, colleges, and service providers to expand HIH’s impact.

Relationship Building & Partnerships

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with local nonprofits, mutual aid networks, state agencies, elected officials, and community leaders.
• Represent HIH at community meetings, state health and equity councils, and relevant policy events.
• Build awareness of HIH’s mission and programs through regional speaking opportunities or tabling events.

Advocacy and Representation

• Participate in or organize state-specific campaigns or awareness activities that align with HIH’s priorities (e.g., anti-adultification legislation, period equity, violence prevention).
• Share opportunities for local collaboration with HIH’s advocacy or policy team.
• Engage in storytelling or organizing that centers lived experiences and collective healing.

Reporting and Communication

• Serve as the primary point of contact (POC) for inquiries and opportunities within the region.
• Submit quarterly reports detailing activities, outreach, partnerships, and local challenges.
• Participate in monthly virtual meetings with HIH’s leadership and fellow ambassadors to share progress and insights.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Deep understanding of and connection to the local community, especially issues affecting Black girls and women.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience planning or supporting community programs, advocacy initiatives, or outreach events.
• Passion for racial, gender, and health equity.
• Availability to attend in-person and virtual meetings or events as needed.

Preferred:

• Prior involvement in grassroots organizing, public health, education, or social work.
• Existing relationships with local stakeholders or institutions (e.g., schools, city councils, churches).
• Public speaking or facilitation experience.

Commitment:

• 5–10 hours/month (varies depending on region and events)
• 1-year renewable term
• Modest stipend or reimbursement available (depending on funding and region)
