HF is seeking a Donor Engagement and Events Manager with experience growing, cultivating, and managing relationships with a community of passionate supporters. The Donor Engagement and Events Manager joins the team at a pivotal moment in our organizational trajectory; HF’s annual grantmaking budget has the potential to double in the next two years, powered by a growing movement of grassroots solar energy advocates. Working alongside HF’s Executive Director and Senior Manager of Partnerships, this role will help expand our budget to support $4 million in grantmaking annually.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Donor Cultivation 


  • Maintain and grow a portfolio of approximately 75–125 mid-major donors ($1,000–$25,000 annual giving capacity), with individualized stewardship and cultivation plans.
  • Conduct regular donor meetings (in-person and virtual) with a focus on deepening relationships and identifying increased giving capacity.
  • Design tailored cultivation strategies for this portfolio, identifying prospects for major giving, planned giving, or leadership circle prospects.
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Senior Manager of Partnerships to develop pipeline strategies and prospect moves management.
  • In partnership with the Senior Manager of Partnerships, implement a mid-major donor recognition program, including impact reports, donor spotlights, and exclusive engagement opportunities.
  • Work with communications and program teams to create customized materials and impact stories for donor engagement.
  • Manage donor stewardship calendar, ensuring timely touchpoints such as handwritten notes, personalized updates, and special invitations.
  • Diligently maintain donor stewardship records in  Salesforce NPSP to track donor moves, engagement metrics, and giving trends.


Events Management


  • Design creative donor experiences that align with HF’s mission and commitment to justice and equity, ensuring events are inclusive, inspiring, and community-focused.
  • Manage planning, logistics, and execution of all donor cultivation & corporate partnership events, including donor-hosted gatherings, virtual opportunities, friendraisers, and stewardship events, with a focus on mid-major donor engagement.
  • Partner with board members, major donors, and ambassadors to organize co-hosted events and secure in-kind support when possible.
  • Track event-specific donor interactions and contributions in Salesforce to inform cultivation strategies.
  • Collaborate with communications to produce branded event materials, such as event programs, signage, and speaker notes.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in nonprofit development, with a strong emphasis on mid-level donor cultivation, events, and relationship management.
  • Demonstrated success in securing 4-5 figure gifts and managing a mid-major donor portfolio (approximately the. $1,000–$25,000 range).
  • Proven experience in planning and executing donor-focused events, both virtually and in-person, including logistics, program development, and follow-up.
  • Proficiency in donor database management (preferably Salesforce NPSP), with the ability to oversee donor management pipelines, generate reports, and analyze donor data.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to create compelling donor communications, proposals, and impact stories tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to environmental justice, energy equity, and community-centered climate solutions, through professional or lived experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a relationship-first approach to donor cultivation and stewardship, marked by empathy, active listening, and authenticity.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams and departments in a remote setting.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including attention to detail, the ability to juggle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Comfort with public speaking and representing HF to a variety of audiences, including donors, partners, and community members.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Salesforce NPSP, and donor platforms like Classy or Donorbox is preferred.
  • Experience working within trust-based philanthropy or grassroots fundraising frameworks is highly desirable.


SALARY AND LOCATION:


The salary range for this position starts at $75,000, with exact salary depending on qualifications and experience. HF also offers excellent benefits, including a four day work week, a generous and flexible vacation policy, professional development stipend, Work from Anywhere allowance, payment of 100% of medical and dental insurance, employee wellness stipend, and retirement matching up to 5%.


HF operates a primarily remote work environment, with occasional required in-person team meetings, retreats, and events. Office hours are approximately 9am - 5pm Pacific Time. Employees not based in the Pacific time zone may flex their hours, but can be required to work outside their regular office hours to attend meetings and other events. Travel is a part of many positions at HF. The Donor Engagement and Events Manager can expect to travel domestically 4-5 times a year. Unfortunately, our team cannot provide visa sponsorship at this time.
