HOLLA Development Director Portland, OR · Full time

The Development Director is responsible for all fundraising strategy, short and long term, and implementation of the strategy, for HOLLA and HOLLA School. The Development Director will plan, organize, and direct all of HOLLA and HOLLA School’s fundraising, and will oversee the fundraising team. The Development Director works closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising endeavors.



  • Understand and embrace HOLLA and HOLLA School’s mission, and represent the mission, philosophy, and values in fundraising relationships
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Have knowledge and experience in fundraising strategy and techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.
  • Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers.
  • Possess the initiative, vision, and skill set to work independently on a day to day basis
  • Be organized and exhibit initiative and follow through on tasks and goals
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability
  • Demonstrate professional conduct at all times
  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
  • 5 years minimum experience in professional fundraising roles

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Plan and communicate all aspects of HOLLA and HOLLA School’s to fundraising including major gifts, annual planned giving, corporate giving, sponsorships, special events and capital campaigns
  • Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them
  • Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors
  • Grow and maintain current and prospective relationships to develop a network of ongoing funding opportunities
  • Attend HOLLA staff meetings monthly or more to engage with the stories and day to day experiences of our staff, mentors, and mentees
  • Attend HOLLA and HOLLA School Board meetings 
  • Plan, facilitate, and attend Development Team meetings
  • Strategically plan and execute fundraising events in collaboration with the Executive Director, Development Team and other event partners
  • Strategically plan for future of fundraising expansion and long term development strategy for HOLLA and HOLLA School along with Executive Director
  • Research and identify, cultivate, and maintain donor relationships with individuals, foundations, community organizations, private donors 
  • Provide regular and as needed reporting to Development Team, Board of Directors, and Executive Director 
  • Oversee Development Team in a supervisory capacity through regular communication, giving and receiving feedback, accountability to specific tasks and goals, and coaching
  • Collaborate with Storyteller on communications such as annual impact report, press releases, social media content, monthly newsletters, and other collateral that is used for fundraising
  • Identify, and along with the Administrative Assistant, schedule opportunities for the Executive Director to meet and connect with potential donors (individuals and corporations)
  • Along with the Administrative Assistant, ensure giving database is up to date with all gifts and giving receipts are sent on a monthly basis
