QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have communications and/or marketing experience
- Must have project management experience and the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously
- Must be highly creative, with the ability to generate fresh ideas and translate them into engaging content across multiple platforms
- Must have experience creating social media content, including developing concepts, capturing content, writing copy, and adapting content for different platforms
- Must have experience with current communications and social media trends, digital advertising, media pitching, and analytics
- Must have excellent attention to detail, organization, multi-tasking, and project planning skills
- Must have a strong understanding of brand consistency and the ability to maintain a cohesive voice and visual presence across platforms
- A degree in communications, marketing, or a related field is preferred
- Past experience working with marketers, photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and project managers is preferred
- Past experience working with unpaid volunteers and staff is preferred
- Must be available on Sundays to support communications needs and perform quality assurance across Sunday content, digital platforms, and communication channels
JOB DESCRIPTION
The main responsibility of the Communications Department is to ensure that information flows seamlessly throughout every level of the organization as well as to external audiences. This position helps foster and grow the Hoboken Grace brand, creates engaging and creative content, and maintains communication rhythms that help various audiences know when to expect and where to find information.
The Sr. Communications Coordinator plays an active role in bringing the Hoboken Grace story to life through social media and other communication channels. This includes generating creative ideas, capturing and creating content, identifying stories worth telling, and ensuring content is engaging, timely, accurate, and aligned with the Hoboken Grace brand.
This position also helps ensure that people are engaging with and responding to church content and, when appropriate, using various channels to communicate back to the church (email, social media, Slack, etc.). Keys to this position include creativity, constant evaluation and simplification of communications schedules and platforms, recruiting multiple voices and thought leaders, and effectively using tools such as analytics, SEO, marketing platforms, Mailchimp, Planning Center, Subsplash, Asana, and other emerging communications tools.
The ultimate mission of the Communications Department is for Hoboken Grace to communicate how our church loves and serves our city, to celebrate God at every level, and to let the city know what He is doing in and through our church.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Create, capture, and develop engaging social media content that tells the story of Hoboken Grace and reflects the church's brand, voice, and mission
- Generate creative concepts and new approaches for communicating events, stories, initiatives, and key messages across digital platforms
- Stay current on social media, content, and communications trends and identify opportunities to incorporate relevant trends into Hoboken Grace's content strategy
- Write and develop copy for social media, email, web, app, and other communication channels
- Coordinate with photographers, videographers, graphic designers, staff, and other contributors to execute communications projects and content
- Maintain consistency and quality across communications platforms, ensuring information is accurate, timely, and aligned
- Be available on Sundays to perform quality assurance across Sunday communications, content, and platforms, identifying and addressing errors or issues as needed
- Continuously analyze and update communications platforms and systems to improve effectiveness and simplify communication
- Review engagement and analytics to understand how audiences are interacting with content and identify opportunities for improvement
- Identify and help capture stories happening throughout Hoboken Grace
- Pitch journalists and other forms of media to help capture and share our story
- Support additional communications-related projects and responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS
- A commitment to the Hoboken Grace mission as well as an understanding of and willingness to serve within the values of Hoboken Grace
- A creative mindset and a willingness to continually bring new ideas, concepts, and solutions to the Communications Department
- Strong initiative, follow-through, and the ability to identify needs and opportunities without always requiring direction
- Drive, a humble heart, and emotional intelligence are key attributes to success in this position
- Ability to receive feedback, collaborate with a team, and adapt quickly in a fast-moving environment
