Hester General Store is looking for our next Joy Maker!

As a Joy Maker at Hester General Store, you will be the first impression of the incredible brand we are building. We are looking for candidates who "WOW" with their communication skills; who are quick on their feet and able to move between register, pastry counter, and espresso machine with ease; and who are reliable eyes and ears for what customers needs and desires are in our storefront.

This role is anticipated to start the first or second week of November. You will be trained on our mission, vision, and values. Then, you will become an expert on our Point of Sale software - Clover. You'll get a run down of what our 100% Colombian coffee blend from Methodical Coffee should taste like in a variety of crafted coffee drinks. You'll get to taste and learn about the profiles of our baked goods. And you'll help us stock the store for our grand opening!

Once our store opens - anticipated for mid-November - you'll be front and center with our customer-base. Our customers are the heart of what we do; their happiness is your top priority. As a brand known for loyal, local customers, we want you to make *JOY* daily for our shoppers. Therefore, it is imperative that if you consider this role, you know the expectation is to be engaged and *ON* while behind the pastry counter!

What Your Day Will Look Like

-Our new 20' tiled pastry counter is your domain. You will move seamlessly alongside other Joy Makers to fulfill customer orders, complete checkouts through Clover - our Point of Sale - and even make coffee drinks to order.

-Before shifts, you'll ensure baked goods and grab and go food items are moved down from our upstairs kitchen and completely stocked in our retail setting. You'll also ensure boxes are folded, cups are stocked, and everything is lookin' B-E-A-UTIFUL in every display area.

-After shifts, you will clean the slate for the next day - moving any items into necessary holding zones for the next day, cleaning the general seating areas both inside and out, stocking restrooms and ensuring the coffee beans, milks, and sugars are all set for the next AM.

-You will interface with customers all day! This job is meant for the Most Likely to Make You Laugh and The Congeniality superlative winners!

-You are a skilled communicator!

-You know how to solve problems without much guidance; we trust all our team members to have autonomy in their roles, think on their feet, and be agile.

-You know how to up-sell. Sure - we may be out of the Kitchen Sink Cookie, but have you tried....

-An ability to shape-shift; we are a food startup and change a WHOLE lot.

-An interest in growing your career as a Customer Success Maven - which could mean Account Management, Recruiting & Training, and Team Culture roles that become available within the company!

Bonus Points - you're a trained barista who can make a darling cappuccino.

Schedule

You must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule. We are a startup and things change... a lot. We ask for your flexibility, as November and December 2022 will be crazy busy due to our grand opening and PiE SeAsOn!

We expect a more standard schedule will be set by early 2023.

This is an hourly position that is non-exempt from overtime; however, we adhere to a forty-hour workweek unless advanced notice is given.
