Heritage is a mash-up of two concepts and cultures that really go hand in hand: bikes and coffee. If you’ve never thought to pair the two, don’t worry, we're here making sense of it from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week.

Whether you come in to fix a flat, to grab a latte or a new Yakkay helmet, or to try the latest seasonal options from our own Heritage Coffee, we are here to make you feel at home in Chicago’s original bike café. We have seen people come in for a cup of coffee and walk out with a vintage-inspired, handcrafted bicycle. We've also seen people come in looking for tubes leave with 12 ounces of some of the world’s finest coffee.

Heritage Bikes & Coffee and Froth Cafe in Chicago, IL are looking for a line cook to join our team. Our ideal candidate is attentive, motivated, and engaged.

Responsibilities

• Follow recipes and prepare dishes to specification and training.
• Sanitize and prepare equipment and workstation for cooking, maintain a clean workspace at all times.
• Perform basic kitchen functions such as kneading dough, clean knife skills, and sauce preparation.
• Label stock and inventory all ingredients, stay in communication with Chef about low product.
• Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
• Work independently in the kitchen, show strong time management skills, and communicate with off site Chef any urgent needs; work closely with on site barista team to provide an exceptional experience
• Manage rush periods on own; work through tickets and orders systematically, communicate delays clearly to baristas and/or customers
• Be in semi-customer facing role where customers may be able to watch part or all of the culinary process in open or semi-open kitchens
• $16-$17/hour plus tips per shift

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate and listen to team members, as well as work independently and efficiently.
• Dedicated to excellence in product and delivery.
• 1+ Years experience minimum in a made to order environment; 2+ years preferred in food service, hospitality, or culinary arts
