**Job Title:** Physics Subject Matter Expert (SME)

**Department:** Office of the Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OSD/RE)

**Summary:**

The Physics Subject Matter Expert (SME) will provide technical expertise and guidance in the area of physics to support OSD/RE research and engineering initiatives. The SME will have a strong understanding of bioeffects and be able to articulate potential technical convergences between physics and biology. Work will be done in the DC area and remote.

**Responsibilities:**

* Provide strategic guidance and technical expertise in the development and execution of research programs related to physics, including:

   * Bioeffects

   * Medical imaging safety

   * Other areas as needed

* Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement research and development plans

* Conduct literature reviews and stay abreast of current advancements in physics

* Participate in working groups, committees, and workshops related to OSD/RE research priorities

* Familiarize themselves with classified domain policies and procedures

* Ensure the confidentiality of classified information

* Access relevant medical programs and databases as needed

**Qualifications:**

* Ph.D. in physics or a related field

* Strong understanding of bioeffects

* Ability to articulate potential technical convergences between physics and biology

* Familiarity with experimental design and statistical considerations

* Ability to work in a classified domain

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

**Desired Qualifications:**

* Experience in a government or military research setting

* Experience in working with medical professionals

**Security Requirements:**

* Top Secret clearance required
