Hello Neighbor is seeking a strategic, creative, and highly organized Marketing and Communications Manager to lead and elevate the organization’s communications function. This role is responsible for shaping Hello Neighbor’s voice, strengthening brand consistency, and driving storytelling across digital, print, and media channels.

Founded in 2017, Hello Neighbor works to improve the lives of recently resettled refugee families by matching them with dedicated neighbors to guide and support them in their new home. We’ve expanded from our mentorship program to now include refugee resettlement services, family service programs, a national program supporting other refugee and immigrant nonprofits around the country.

Description

The Marketing and Communications Manager will define communications strategy, build systems for content planning and execution, and oversee the organization’s messaging across social media, newsletters, campaigns, website content, and external communications. In addition, this role will be responsible for developing and producing core communications content to ensure consistency, quality, and timely execution.

This role partners closely with internal teams and external contractors to ensure all communications are mission-aligned, audience-centered, and effectively amplify the organization’s impact.

Founded in 2017, Hello Neighbor empowers refugees and immigrants through community connections, helping them move from arrival to belonging with dignity, cultural sensitivity, and meaningful support. Our work is organized across three departments: Education & Community Empowerment, Family Health Services, and Employment, each running programs designed to meet the unique needs of the communities we serve. In addition to our local work, we lead a National Network of grassroots organizations across the U.S., united by a shared commitment to supporting refugee and immigrant families and inspiring long-term change.

Key Responsibilities:


Communications Strategy & Planning

  • Lead the development and implementation of an organization-wide communications strategy across platforms.
  • Build and manage annual and quarterly communications plans aligned with campaigns, fundraising priorities, and program activities.
  • Define messaging priorities, storytelling frameworks, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to increase visibility through campaigns, partnerships, and timely external moments.


Content Development & Execution

  • Develop and produce core communications content across social media, newsletters, blog, and campaign channels.
  • Maintain and manage a comprehensive content calendar, ensuring consistent and timely execution.
  • Write, edit, and distribute high-quality, mission-driven storytelling content.
  • Ensure all communications reflect cultural sensitivity, community voice, and organizational values.


Social Media, Digital Presence & Media Relations

  • Oversee day-to-day management of social media channels, including content creation, scheduling, and publishing.
  • Monitor performance metrics and translate insights into ongoing communications improvements.
  • Draft press materials and support media outreach efforts to strengthen external visibility.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external communications inquiries.


Branding & Creative Direction

  • Maintain and evolve brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all communications.
  • Provide direction for visual identity, design, and storytelling assets across platforms.
  • Coordinate production of branded materials (print, digital, event collateral, merchandise), including vendor coordination as needed.
  • Ensure all materials across departments align with organizational voice and identity.


Website & Digital Asset Management

  • Manage website updates in collaboration with contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure website content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Maintain organized digital asset libraries (photos, videos, design files) for organizational use.
  • Oversee content updates for Hello Neighbor and Hello Neighbor Network web pages.


Collaboration & General Responsibilities

  • Prepare plans and produce all content and materials for fundraising campaigns, ensuring consistency, alignment with messaging, and timely execution.
  • Work closely with contractors and internal teams to align messaging and deliver creative materials on time.
  • Respond to communications needs across departments while balancing strategic priorities and execution.
  • Participate in meetings, uphold confidentiality, and complete other duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field; or 3–5+ years of experience in communications, nonprofit marketing, or public relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to both develop communications strategy and produce high-quality content.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a consistent professional voice.
  • Experience managing content calendars, campaigns, and multi-channel communications.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Mailchimp, CMS platforms, and social media scheduling tools.
  • Experience coordinating contractors or creative vendors.
  • Understanding of media relations and press outreach.

Additional Details:

  • Employment Type: Full-Time (9am–5pm) | Non-Exempt
  • Work Schedule: Hybrid – In-office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

  • Compensation: $23-24 /hour
