Founded in 2017, Hello Neighbor works to improve the lives of recently resettled refugee families by matching them with dedicated neighbors to guide and support them in their new home. We’ve expanded from our mentorship program to now include refugee resettlement services, family service programs, a national program supporting other refugee and immigrant nonprofits around the country.
This is an in-house, limited-term, part-time, non-exempt position at our Pittsburgh, PA office in Larimer through September 30, 2026. We are currently on a hybrid work schedule of 9am-5pm Monday through Friday; in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
Reports To: Arrival and Integration Services Supervisor
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee several food security initiatives, including matching volunteer groups with food insecure families for a 3-month program and connecting clients to local food banks and low-cost, culturally appropriate alternatives
- Coordinate distribution of grocery gift cards and limited food supplies to food insecure clients
- Coordinate with direct service staff to assess and identify the most vulnerable families
- Identify/recruit volunteer groups and administer trainings to groups of volunteers, helping them to understand their role with the families - training will include budget planning, grocery shopping education, and food pantry navigation
- Assist the Arrival & Integration Supervisor in connecting the volunteer groups to appropriate families and facilitate introductions
- Serve as coordinator and liaison for volunteers and case managers: meeting regularly with the volunteer groups or POCs of the groups, to advise and encourage, and relying vital information from/to case managers
- Evaluate program success through interviews and surveys
- Provide timely, detailed case notes for all services
- Coordinate interpretation and translation services for volunteers and families as needed
- Participate in regular supervision meetings and relevant staff meetings
- Adhere to Hello Neighbor’s confidentiality guidelines and ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information
- Other duties and support of Family Health Services department as assigned within the scope of position expectations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent employment experience
- One year of related and/or applicable work experience and a demonstrated ability to work with refugee and immigrant communities effectively
- Comfort navigating social services systems
- Experience working with interpreters highly valued
- Bilingual or multilingual in priority language preferred (Dari, Pashto, Arabic, Swahili, French, Spanish, Haitian-Creole, Rohingya)
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, characterized by compassionate, courteous, cordial, and professional interactions with diverse colleagues, program members, and the community
- Possesses cultural competencies, encompassing knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors relevant to the communities served
- Thorough understanding of issues pertinent to refugees and immigrants
- Able to cultivate excellent relationships with clients, staff, and partners
- Exhibits adept task management, including priority setting, meeting deadlines, and efficient time scheduling for multiple responsibilities
- Digital literacy and the ability to learn new software
- Flexibility and ability to work nights and weekends as necessary
- Effective collaboration with others through cooperative efforts
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
- Alignment with and support of Hello Neighbor’s core values

Additional Details:
- This is a part time, non-exempt, in-house position at our Pittsburgh office in the Larimer neighborhood
- Clearances required: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal History Clearance (PA Act 23 & Act 24); Mandatory Reporter and/or PSEA training may also be required depending on job requirements

- $21-$23 /hr, 20-29 hours weekly.
