POSITION SUMMARY:

General Function:                   

Provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in swimming classes. Your actions as a member of the Aquatics Team should be geared toward moving the Team and the YMCA in a positive direction; the Coordinator and Team need your cooperation and effort in making the Helena YMCA the place for Aquatics.

Job Responsibilities:

• Instructs swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines,

having prepared lesson plans accordingly.

• Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate;

refers members and participants to other programs.

• Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
• Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
• Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.
• Inspect the pool on a daily basis for potential hazards; correct them or report them to the appropriate personnel.
• Assist patrons by providing needed assistance cheerfully.
• Develop a positive relationship with the patrons and the members.
• Perform chores designed to promote safety, enhance the aquatics experience, and keep the pool environment pleasurable to patrons.
