The Entry Writer is responsible for the accurate and timely submission of entries for clearance of inbound cargo through US Customs. In this position, you will be acting as a customer advocate and must possess professional customer service skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
§ Receive & Review documentation to input and transmit data for CBP release of shipments
§ Follow SOPs for each customer as well as update and maintain current and new SOPs for clients to ensure correct process and data requirements are met for each account
§ Classify products for entries
§ Identify products that are subject to PGA's
§ Ensure statuses of entries are kept up-to-date and communicated accordingly
§ Manage ISF filings
§ Report discrepancies in processes and filings to management for intervention
§ Manage communication with customers regarding CBP and PGA
§ Monitor and resolve all issues to obtain customs clearance
§ Comply with 19 CFR
§ Maintain up-to-date customer records and customs compliance documentation
§ Review and monitor all Customs rejections, requests for information, and other correspondence
§ Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations
§ Respond to internal and external customer inquiries and follow-up to ensure issue resolution and customer satisfaction
§ Collaborate with coworkers and other departments to ensure data integrity and compliance procedures are met
Minimum Qualifications
§ High School Diploma or equivalent
§ Two to three years of work experience in related brokerage or logistics operation
§ Computer savvy with proficiency in MS Office including Excel, Access, Word
§ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
§ Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize multiple demands
§ Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
§ Strong verbal and written communication skills
§ Knowledge of import operations, Customs brokerage, and entry writing procedures
§ Knowledge of domestic and international geography including countries, major cities, airports, and ocean ports
§ Exceptional work ethic, energy, and drive
§ Demonstrates alignment with the company's code of ethics
Preferred Qualifications
§ Bachelor’s Degree preferred
§ Certified Customs Specialist Designation
§ Licensed Customs Broker
§ Current Entry Writing Experience
§ NAFTA & HTS classification experience
§ Post Entry experience
§ Experience working with all Government Agencies in Trade Compliance
§ Working knowledge of PGA’s – FDA, FCC, USDA, FWS, etc.
