Description

The Junior Information Technology (IT) Security Engineer is a role well-versed in many IT & Cybersecurity functions.


Specialized skills (3+ years):

  • Enterprise infrastructure network security 
  • Enterprise infrastructure systems/server security 
  • Threat monitoring, analysis, and enterprise level cyber mitigation strategies 
  • Vulnerability management 
  • Intrusion detection and prevention management 
  • Identity, authentication, authorization, and accountability management 
  • Business continuity planning and testing 


Technical and IT Delivery (3+ years):

  • Assist maintaining administration of cybersecurity awareness training 
  • Implement and support security risk and mitigation strategies, tools, techniques, and solutions to uphold CIA 
  • Knowledge and experience of enterprise cybersecurity architecture principles and best practices 
  • Knowledge and experience of risk management processes and requirements 
  • Knowledge and experience of vulnerability management 
  • Knowledge and experience of business continuity and incident preparedness management/response handling 
  • Knowledge and experience of data lifecycle management/information assurance 
  • Knowledge and experience of identity and access management 
  • Knowledge and experience of network and systems security operations and monitoring 
  • Knowledge and experience developing/maintaining information security governance framework(s) in alignment with business needs 
  • Knowledge of GRC processes and tools 
  • Assist with implementation of recommended security risk reduction methodologies 
  • Experience in public, federal and/or state sectors 


Required Certifications:

  • CompTIA Security+, GIAC GCIA, CySA+, SSCP 


Competencies:

  • Microsoft 365 defender, Exchange Online, DLP, Intune 
  • MFA (DUO, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.) 
  • Windows/Linux operating systems; iOS/Android mobile devices 
  • Azure and AWS cloud computing services 
  • Email security procedures 
  • Enterprise IAAA processes and best practices 
  • Security intrusion and prevention controls (SIEM, NMP, IDS/IPS, ESG) 
  • Programming/scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) 
  • SOC processes 
  • AI risks and attack taxonomy 
  • Certificate management and encryption key management processes 


Required Degree

  • Bachelor of Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Science, or Management Information Technology
