Description

The Role

The Senior HR Generalist is HAVERHILL's on-the-ground HR presence: the person employees bring a question, a problem, or a form to, and the person who keeps the people side of the business running cleanly, day in and day out. You'll report to our Chief of Staff, operate with real independence, and be trusted to make sound calls without checking in on the small stuff.

This is a hands-on generalist seat, not a strategy seat. You'll spend real time on the floor, not just behind a desk. This position is on-site in Warren, RI, providing direct support to a multilingual team.

What You'll Own

Core HR

  • Full-cycle recruiting and onboarding for both office and production roles
  • Employee relations — first point of contact for questions, concerns, and conflict resolution, across both the office and the floor
  • Recordkeeping and compliance: personnel files, I-9s, required labor law postings, leave administration, workers' comp coordination, and OSHA recordkeeping support for a manufacturing environment
  • Benefits administration support — enrollment, vendor coordination, day-to-day employee questions
  • Performance management administration and manager coaching on people issues
  • Policy and employee handbook maintenance
  • Bilingual HR communication — translating and delivering policies, communications, and trainings so they land the same way in English and Spanish

Team Culture & Morale

  • Own the morale calendar: catered lunches, raffles, contests, and recognition moments, run on a regular cadence, not just around the holidays
  • Design and run recognition programs: service anniversaries, shout-outs, milestone moments
  • Plan company events, from holiday gatherings to floor appreciation days
  • Keep an informal pulse on morale across the office and the floor, and flag what you're hearing before it becomes a bigger problem

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, broad-based, not narrowly specialized in one HR function
  • Full bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, spoken and written
  • Experience in a manufacturing, production, or similarly hands-on operational environment strongly preferred
  • Comfortable being the primary HR presence in the building. You don't need a large team around you to do good work, and you know when to make the call yourself versus bring it to leadership
  • Meticulous recordkeeping habits: compliance details don't slip on your watch
  • A steady, even-keeled, genuinely positive presence, day in and day out
  • Real, current enjoyment of the hands-on, people-facing work of HR
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience; SHRM-CP or PHR a plus, not required

Core Competencies

  • Relationship Building: earns trust quickly across a bilingual office and production floor; becomes the person employees bring problems to
  • Discretion & Judgment: handles sensitive employee information carefully, and knows what to decide independently versus escalate to leadership
  • Composure Under Pressure: stays steady, even-keeled, and genuinely positive through high-pressure production periods
  • Organization & Recordkeeping: meticulous and detail-oriented; owns compliance deadlines without reminders
  • Bilingual Communication: communicates clearly and naturally in English and Spanish, in writing and in person
  • Conflict Resolution: handles employee relations issues fairly and calmly, without escalating tension
  • Follow-Through: reliably executes recurring responsibilities, from compliance deadlines to the morale calendar, without things falling through the cracks

In Your First 90 Days

  • You'll learn the rhythm of both the office and the floor, and meet every person on the team
  • You'll take full ownership of personnel records and close any gaps you find
  • You'll plan and run your first team morale event
