Pay & Hours:
$45/hr to maintain and repair 2 Kenworth diesel dump trucks (CUMMINS/PACCAR) .
This is an "AS NEEDED - PART TIME" position to repair urgent and non-urgent dump truck problems as they arise. Mechanic will average 10 - 20 hours per week. Repairs will be conducted at our truck lot typically between 3-8 PM on weekdays and anytime on weekends. This job will marry well with another Full-time position.
Job Summary:
HaulPRO Trucking LLC, is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing on-site repair and maintenance services for our fleet of HaulPRO Trucking dump trucks. As our Diesel Mechanic, you will diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum fleet efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine diagnostics, repair, and maintenance, with specialized expertise in fleet service operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of our fleet vehicles..
- Conduct thorough inspections of fleet vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and other vehicle components as needed, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and tire rotations, to keep fleet vehicles in optimal condition.
- Communicate effectively with owners and drivers to coordinate and prioritize repairs, and provide updates on repair progress.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory using electronic systems and software.
- Source parts with local and online suppliers.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while working on-site, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Stay informed about industry trends, advancements in diesel engine technology, and best practices in fleet maintenance and repair.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools, equipment, and supplies are properly stored and maintained.
- Mechanic is not expected to do internal engine or transmission rebuilds.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with a focus on fleet service operations.
- CUMMINS and PACCAR experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine principles, fuel systems, emissions control systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, computerized diagnostic software, welding, and mobile service equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL A) preferred.
- ASE certification and relevant manufacturer certifications preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and work in various weather conditions.
- Must have complete set of personal basic tools. All specialty and heavy duty tools are provided.
