About the Role: 

Harvest Hands is hiring Barista Shift Leads to help run our mission-driven café. This role supports daily operations, models excellent service, and mentors student employees in a fast-paced, community-focused environment. Weekly work hours will range between 15 to 28 hrs. Sunday availability is a requirement for this position.

Position Overview:

Barista Shift Leads are key members of the café leadership team. They support the day-to-day operations of the shop, model excellent customer service, maintain a clean and professional workspace, and help foster a supportive, inclusive atmosphere for customers and staff alike. Shift Leads work under the supervision of café management and are instrumental in mentoring student employees while carrying out the mission of Harvest Hands.

Starting pay: $14/hr plus tips

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a lead barista, ensuring high-quality service and drinks.
• Supervise and support team members during shifts.
• Mentor student workers, providing guidance and accountability.
• Open/close the café and follow operational checklists.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming space.
• Communicate regularly with management about operations and staff.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following professional qualifications:

• Maintain a strong passion and commitment to mission and outreach in an under resourced community
• Sunday availability
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of specialty coffee experience preffered
• Register and cash handling experience
• Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to coordinate multiple tasks at the same time
• Effective problem-solving/decision-making abilities
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
