Position Overview: 

The Barista Shift Leads are responsible for the event based or on call kiosk operations, maintaining high arena standards and conditions, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for customers and team members under the supervision of kiosk management. Barista Shift Leads set the tone and personality of the kiosk by being a role-model in all aspects of work including: customer service, product knowledge, education, safe work practices, and teamwork. They are responsible for ensuring that the kiosk meets all health code and kiosk standards as set by cafe management and Bridgestone Arena. They are responsible for working alongside Harvest Hands leadership to ensure students from Harvest Hands are engaged in contributing to the kiosk in a positive way and the mission of Harvest Hands is communicated through the kiosk. Barista Shift Leads will also represent Harvest Hands’ mission in the community and intentionally engage in community efforts to promote the kiosk and the mission of the organization. 


Job Responsibilities & Tasks 

Customer Service 

● The Barista Shift Lead is considered an "expert barista," so providing customer service is an essential part of the job. 

● Barista Shift Leads are expected to provide beverages to customers, but are also there to address customers' issues when they arise, contacting managers as needed. 

● During times of high volume or unusual events, Barista Shift Leads are expected to be calm and in charge, delegating tasks effectively to the rest of staff. 


Supervising 

● Barista Shift Leads run kiosk operations during their scheduled shifts. This includes opening and closing the kiosk , supervising employees, delegating tasks and responsibilities, mentoring/training students and baristas as needed and developing positive relationships with the students/staff/customers. 

● The Barista Shift Lead should ensure proper POS system policies 

● The Barista Shift Lead coordinates with the Kiosk Manager to arrange the pickup and drop-off of necessary items from the Humphrey's Wedgewood location as needed for events. 

Knowledge/Abilities 



Knowledge/Abilities 

● Barista Shift Leads should have the ability to supervise the work of others, learn quickly, and communicate effectively and efficiently with the Kiosk Manager. 

● Barista Shift Leads are to keep track of inventory, and notify management via Slack when something is low, and needs to be re-ordered. 

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills are important in dealing with both customers and staff. 

● The Barista Shift Lead is to have the ability to remain calm and professional in difficult situations and delegate tasks to team members on shift in order to get all work done in a correct and timely manner. 

● Barista Shift Leads excel in fast-paced environments with high-volume demands. 

● The Barista Shift Lead will be expected to attend regular training and monthly staff shop meetings. 

● All other duties as assigned by the Kiosk Manager or leadership team member. 



Requirements 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following professional qualifications: 

1. Available all Sundays to work at the kiosk and/or coffee shop. 

2. Maintain a strong passion and commitment to mission and outreach in an under resourced community 

3. High School Diploma or equivalent 

4. 1+ year of specialty coffee experience preferred 

5. Arena or large event venue experience preferred 

6. Customer service and POS experience 

7. Well-organized, detail-oriented and ability to multitask 

8. Effective problem solving/decision making abilities 

9. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills 

10. Reliable and dedicated team player who consistently delivers excellence and takes initiative. 


Essential Highlights of This Role 

Dress Code: Team members are required to wear black pants (no shorts, holes, or rips/tears), closed-toe shoes, and either a Humphreys Street t-shirt, a solid-colored shirt, or a Nashville Predators shirt. Proper attire is essential, and failure to comply may result in being asked to change or being sent home. 

Flexible Availability: Comfortable with an event-based schedule, with hours varying between 6-25 per week depending on event demand. 

Advance Scheduling: Enjoy the benefit of having your schedule planned weeks in advance. Events at Bridgestone Arena are scheduled months out, allowing team members to see their assigned shifts on Homebase at least three weeks in advance. You can also visit BridgestoneArena.com to view scheduled events ahead of time. However, please note that some events may be added last-minute or booked privately, requiring flexibility. 

Typical Work Hours: Most events occur between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM. However, depending on the type of event (Predators games, concerts, comedy shows, etc.), some shifts may start earlier in the day. 

Complimentary Shift Meal: Employees receive a free meal during their shift.

Salary

$14 - $18 per hour
