ROLE

As a Medical Assistant at Harrisburg Family Health Care, Inc. (HFHC), you will work alongside our providers and clinical staff to deliver quality, patient-centered care. You will support the day-to-day clinical operations of the health center — from preparing patients and treatment rooms to managing supplies and maintaining accurate records. WHAT YOU'LL D

Patient Care

●      Greet and welcome patients and visitors upon arrival.

●      Answer phones, assist with patient inquiries, and schedule appointments.

●      Register new patients and verify patient demographics.

●      Room patients, recording weight, height, blood pressure, and vital signs.

●      Maintain accurate patient records and ensure information is up to date.

●      Confirm daily schedules and prepare for next-day appointments.

●      Assist providers and clinical staff in delivering patient care under the direction of qualified healthcare professionals.

●      Support the team during medical emergencies as needed.


Treatment Room & Equipment

●      Prepare, clean, and stock treatment rooms before and after each patient visit.

●      Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment following established protocols.

●      Ensure all rooms always meet clinic cleanliness and safety standards.


Inventory & Records

●      Track supply levels and place orders to maintain adequate inventory.

●      Maintain accurate records using Excel and Athena (our electronic health records system).


Compliance & Professionalism

●      Follow HIPAA guidelines and always protect patient confidentiality.

●      Use appropriate PPE and adhere to all clinic safety and infection control protocols.

●      Comply with clinic standards, procedures, and applicable regulations.

●      Participate in clinic-specific training and orientation to build your skills.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

●      High school diploma or equivalent.

●      Current BLS/CPR certification.

●      Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

●      Reliable, professional, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

●      Committed to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Preferred

●      Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

●      Prior experience in a medical office or community health setting.

●      Proficiency with EHR/EMR systems (Athena experience a plus) and Microsoft Office.

●      Familiarity with medical terminology and clinical equipment.

●      Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.


IImmunization RequirementsMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS

All personnel must provide documentation of the following immunizations and health screenings prior to or upon hire, as directed by HFHC leadership:

●      Hepatitis B — Completion of vaccine series and post-vaccination serologic confirmation for employees with potential exposure to blood or body fluids.

●      Influenza / Flu Vaccine — Annual vaccination required for all personnel during flu season.

●      MMR — Two documented doses or laboratory evidence of immunity.

●      Varicella — Two documented doses, laboratory evidence of immunity, or verified history of disease.

●      Tdap — One-time Tdap dose required; Td or Tdap booster every 10 years thereafter.

●      Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) — Two-step TST required for personnel without prior documented TB testing within the past 12 months.


Salary

$16 - $18 per hour
