Position Summary: The Dispensary General Manager is a strategic leader responsible for the overall management and success of the dispensary. This role involves recruiting and developing a high-performing team, driving sales growth, managing operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with state-specific cannabis laws. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong business acumen, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for providing exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Development
- Recruit, hire, and staff the dispensary with top talent, fostering a diverse and skilled workforce
- Coach, develop, and maximize the success of all team members, ensuring desired behaviors are achieved across roles
- Deliver effective onboarding, ongoing training, and development programs for staff
Business and Financial Management
- Analyze key business metrics, create actionable plans, and gain team buy-in to achieve goals
- Oversee P&L management by driving sales growth and managing expense budgets, including deposits and accounts receivable
- Direct workforce and inventory management activities, resolving discrepancies per state regulations
Operational Execution
- Ensure operational excellence by implementing and enforcing company policies and procedures.
- Monitor and maintain the functionality of all technology solutions
- Lead loss prevention and security efforts to protect assets and staff
- Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of the store, addressing repair or improvement needs.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
- Become an expert in state-specific cannabis rules, regulations, and laws
- Execute and enforce compliance controls and processes, ensuring all employees are informed of regulatory changes
- Maintain productive relationships with regulators, inspectors, and law enforcement personnel
- Ensure timely completion of all required state and company-sanctioned reports and audits.
Customer Experience and Engagement
- Lead initiatives to create emotionally engaging customer experiences and foster loyalty
- Set and maintain visual standards aligned with company direction
- Oversee and implement customer engagement strategies, promotions, and loyalty programs
Community Engagement and Facility Management
- Build positive relationships with neighboring businesses and local residents
- Champion change and innovation in a fast-paced retail environment
Additional Responsibilities
- Lead weekly manager meetings and monthly team meetings to ensure effective communication
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Leadership Team
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in retail or dispensary management.
- Flagship management preferred
Skills and Competencies
- Proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead high-performing teams
- Strong financial acumen, including P&L management and expense control
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with state cannabis regulations and a commitment to compliance.
- Proficient in technology solutions for inventory and workforce management
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
