Harambee Christian School is seeking caring and hard-working teacher aides to join our staff. Teacher aides support classroom teachers, ensuring a healthy classroom environment and student learning. You will work in a Christ-centered environment, providing education and support to students as they navigate their academic journey.

Responsibilities

Classroom Assistance

• Assist with classroom management under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Provide individual or small group instruction, intervention and assessment, as assigned by the classroom teacher.
• Provide clerical support to the classroom teacher, which may include grading papers, making copies, laminating, etc.
• Supervise students during hallway transitions and bathroom breaks. Ensure that students are safe in the bathroom and quiet in the hallways. Also, assist during school-wide safety drills.
• Accompany students to specials classes – music, physical education, art and library – to assist the specials teachers, as needed or requested.

School-Wide Support

• Supervise and engage students during assigned lunch periods. Ensure proper lunch documentation. Assist students with lunch and clean up. Maintain a clean, safe and orderly lunch room environment.
• Supervise and engage students during assigned recess periods. Provide careful supervision of students to ensure safety. Intervene and correct behaviors as needed. Encourage healthy, constructive student activity.

Requirements:

• High School diploma minimum, some college experience is preferred
• Experience working with children
• Moral and spiritual requirements of deacons as outlined in 1 Timothy 3
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity
• Passion for working with inner-city youth and helping them succeed
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Salary Range:

• $16-$18 per hour
