As a Senior Analyst you’ll design end-to-end actuarial solutions for our client’s needs across rate making, loss reserving, and risk management, acting as a true expert and partner to our clients.

As a Senior Analyst you’ll design end-to-end actuarial solutions for our client’s needs across rate making, loss reserving, and risk management, acting as a true expert and partner to our clients. You’ll also research modern, sophisticated statistical techniques, ensuring Hansen stays on the forefront of risk analytics. However, you won’t be doing this alone; you’ll shape what mentorship and development at Hansen looks like, creating scalable programs to shape the future of our team.


Some examples of projects you may tackle include:


  • Estimating unpaid property and casualty insurance liabilities, with a disciplined approach to understanding the data, the products, the coverages, the claims function, and the reserving methodologies.


  • Rate making for property and casualty insurance products, including rate level indications, deductible factors, increased limit factors, territorial rating, and classification plans; applying rating plan segmentation tools from machine learning to generalized linear models.


  • Pricing for reinsurance program placements using experience and exposure-based methods, along with risk transfer testing of reinsurance programs.   


Qualifications:


  • 4+ years of personal property (homeowners, farmowners, or dwelling) rate making or reserving experience OR catastrophe modeling for property insurance exposures
  • Successfully completed 4+ CAS exams, ACAS designation preferred
  • Expert Excel experience (V-Lookup, Pivot Tables, macros, etc).
  • Fluent with SQL, proficient with ‘R’.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience mentoring team members preferred


Location & Travel:


While work can be performed remotely, there will be occasions to travel and meet with clients and business partners (about 5%). Preference will be given to Columbus, OH applicants, where a hybrid in-office environment is available for better learning and engagement. 


Salary

$90,000 - $175,000 per year
