Position Overview

We are hiring an experienced HVAC Service Technician with at least 5 years of residential HVAC experience.

This role is service-focused and ideal for a technician who is confident in diagnostics, communicates well with customers, and can contribute to service revenue — while working alongside a Lead Technician who handles advanced diagnostics and system replacements.

You will run your own calls while being supported by organized dispatching, Workiz CRM systems, and a responsive office team.

Responsibilities

Service & Diagnostics

• Diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems independently
• Perform preventative maintenance and system evaluations
• Ensure clean, professional, code-compliant workmanship
• Assist with system troubleshooting and occasional installation support

Customer Communication & Service Opportunities

• Present repair options clearly and professionally
• Build trust with homeowners through honest recommendations
• Identify system replacement opportunities and communicate them to the Lead Technician or management
• Offer IAQ upgrades and maintenance memberships when appropriate

Field Operations

• Run assigned service calls efficiently and on schedule
• Handle a mix of service, maintenance, and warranty calls
• Support team operations and assist on more complex jobs when needed

Professional Standards

• Complete digital job notes and required photos
• Collect payment onsite when required
• Maintain a clean, organized take-home company vehicle
• Represent the Handy Dan brand professionally at all times

Requirements

• 5+ years residential HVAC service experience
• Strong diagnostic ability
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills
• EPA Certification (required)
• Clean driving record
• Comfortable using mobile apps and CRM software
• Team-oriented mindset

NATE certification is a plus.

Compensation

• $28–$34 per hour based on experience, diagnostic ability, and communication skills
• Performance-based bonus opportunities
