About Handl Health, Inc.

Workers and their families deserve accessible, affordable and personalized healthcare. But the tools to create that healthcare, the technology needed to design, deploy and manage a truly custom plan, haven’t existed. Look at it another way: SMB employers are spending over $233 billion annually on healthcare for their employees. Yet most of them offer plans that can’t account for unique demographics, cost drivers or the care needs of their workforce. Those billions of dollars buy healthcare plans that everyone kind of hates. Series A-funded Hand Health exists to give them all something better. At Handl, we are quickly growing the team to better serve the people who carry the responsibility of making healthcare affordable and accessible for working people and their families. When we create solutions for health plans (carriers and TPAs), brokers and plan sponsors (employers), we’re helping them transform healthcare in this country. Handl’s technology delivers the infrastructure, analytics and insights needed to power the next generation of alternative health plans. We are a growing, mission-driven team that values thoughtful execution, collaboration and balance. We work hard, support one another and stay focused on our shared goal: making healthcare more affordable and transparent for everyone.

Description

The Role

Healthcare solutions only works if it actually goes live. Going live means meeting customers where their plan design, data, and operations already exist — and turning a signed contract into a working product on a hard date. Every new deployment requires aligning third-party administrators, brokers, and employer benefits teams around a real timeline, real file formats, and a real cutover.

We are looking for an Implementation Manager to own the end-to-end deployment of our navigation product across each new customer.

This role sits at the intersection of healthcare data integrations, plan operations, and customer delivery. You will be the single named owner from the moment a deal closes to the moment the account is fully handed off to Customer Success. You will not write production code, but you will be technical enough to scope APIs, SFTP feeds, and file-format negotiations with a customer's IT team — and credible enough that they tell you the real answer.

You will report directly to the Chief Product Officer and act as the connective tissue between Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Support.

What You'll Do

  • Own End-to-End Implementations: Manage the full deployment lifecycle for each new customer — kickoff, requirements scoping, data collection, integration setup, QA, go-live, and post-launch hypercare.
  • Drive Data and Integration Setup: Collect plan design artifacts, eligibility feed configuration, provider directory references, claims feeds, and any other required customer data. Negotiate SFTP credentials and file formats with customer IT and operations teams. Validate eligibility (834) and claims (837) files. Stand up integrations alongside engineering.
  • Project Manage to a Hard Date: Set each implementation timeline backwards from the customer's effective date. Surface blockers and dependencies early. Hold the line when something slips, and escalate before it threatens the date.
  • Coordinate Cross-Functionally: Receive handoffs from Sales with full context on customer commitments. Partner with Product and Engineering on platform gaps surfaced by implementations, and feed roadmap input on what to build next. Design and execute the handoff to Customer Success so accounts run smoothly post-launch.
  • Run Customer-Facing Calls: Lead weekly working sessions with TPAs, brokers, and employer benefits leads. Translate technical requirements into language the customer can act on, and customer asks into actionable scope for engineering.
  • Build the Implementation Playbook: Document every implementation as you go. Identify repeated patterns across customers and propose automations that make the next deployment faster than the last.

Who You Are

  • Healthcare Integrations Native: You have worked on healthcare integrations specifically — at a TPA, benefits platform, healthtech infrastructure company, or health plan vendor. You know the difference between a TPA and a carrier, between a self-funded plan and a fully insured one, between a network and a benefit grid.
  • Technical Without Being an Engineer: You are fluent in SFTP, REST APIs, JSON/CSV/XML, and the practical mechanics of moving data between systems. You can read and write at least one EDI flavor — ideally 834 (eligibility) and 837 (claims). You are SQL-proficient enough to drop a sample customer file in a temp table and validate it yourself.
  • Project Management Discipline: You hold a project plan in your head and on paper at the same time. You know the difference between a customer being two weeks late on a deliverable and a customer being two weeks late with a hard go-live date staring you down. You write the email that gets the right answer, not the email that demonstrates frustration.
  • Customer-Facing Without Being a Salesperson: You can run a customer ops call and walk out with the file you needed, the timeline you needed, and the goodwill you needed for the next ask. You can explain why we need a specific extract — not the SPD, not a marketing PDF — to a benefits administrator who has only ever seen the SPD.
  • Cross-Functional Operator: You think in handoffs. You know that the moment an implementation becomes a customer support problem is the moment CS didn't get the right context. You design the implementation so the handoff is boring.
  • Execution-First Mindset: You thrive in early-stage environments. You are organized, detail-oriented, and can manage multiple active implementations in parallel without losing focus.

Bonus Points

  • Has set up production SFTP integration end-to-end (keys, paths, schedules, error handling, retries on empty/missing files).
  • Experience with eligibility inquiry (270/271) and remittance (835) EDI flavors.
  • Has worked at a specialty TPA or on multi-employer benefit arrangements.
  • Has touched CMS Hospital Price Transparency or Transparency in Coverage machine-readable files in a previous role.
  • Familiarity with Linear, Notion, HubSpot, or similar implementation tooling stacks.

Compensation

The salary ranges from $110,000 - $140,000 , depending on your location, experience, and market conditions. Benefits you'll receive:

  • Employee Stock Options
  • Generous health benefits and 401K matching
  • Flexible paid vacation, parental and medical leave
  • A stipend to help you set up a home office

Location

This role is fully remote but if you are in the LA area, there is an opportunity to work within the Handl office. Travel requirements for this role are limited to infrequent in person meetings with the team.
