Position Overview:
The Copywriter will be the voice behind our clients’ campaigns, responsible for creating high-impact copy and content that resonates with target audiences. Working closely with the Demand Generation Strategist, project managers, and creative teams, this individual will develop messaging for websites, emails, social media, and other channels, ensuring consistency and alignment with client goals. They will be an expert in B2B messaging, adept at translating complex ideas into clear, problem-centric, and persuasive content that supports lead generation and brand-to-demand strategies.
Responsibilities:

Content Creation: Write highly relevant short- and long-form content, including blogs, case studies, emails, newsletters, landing pages, and website copy, tailored to each client’s Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) and business goals.

Messaging Expertise: Develop and refine client messaging to be clear, compelling, and problem-centric, ensuring it aligns with demand generation best practices and occupies a unique position in the market.

Social Media Support: Craft engaging social media posts (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter) for client campaigns and prospecting efforts, optimizing for engagement and lead nurture.

Multi-Channel Execution: Create copy for diverse channels, including paid ads (e.g., Google Ads), email campaigns, and other digital touchpoints, collaborating with the Demand Generation Strategist to ensure cohesive storytelling.

Campaign Asset Development: Partner with the creative team to produce campaign assets like banners, whitepapers, and one-pagers, ensuring messaging consistency across all deliverables.

Content Brief Collaboration: Work with the Demand Generation Strategist to author detailed content briefs that guide content creation, ensuring alignment with client strategies and ICP needs.

Performance Optimization: Review content performance metrics (e.g., engagement, conversion rates) with the team, iterating on messaging to improve results and drive leads and developing A/B test copy to optimize conversion performance.

Client Expertise: Become deeply familiar with your client’s businesses, tailoring copy to reflect their industries, challenges, tone of voice, style and value propositions.

Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, strategists, and designers to deliver content on time and within scope, supporting sprint plans and client timelines.

Trend Awareness: Stay current on B2B copywriting trends, messaging strategies, and platform-specific best practices (e.g., LinkedIn algorithms, email deliverability) to keep Grey Matter at the forefront of demand generation.
Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of copywriting experience, preferably in a B2B marketing / demand generation environment.
- Proven track record of crafting messaging that drives engagement and conversions across multiple channels.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in writing for digital platforms (e.g., websites, email, social media, ads) with a strong grasp of SEO and content optimization principles.
- Familiarity with tools like HubSpot, Google Ads, or social media management platforms is a plus.
- Expertise in A/B testing practices and commitment to a test and learn philosophy.
- Ability to interpret campaign performance data to refine messaging (with team support).
- Skilled in leveraging AI for efficiency without sacrificing authenticity, depth and accuracy in the content.
- Interpersonal & Creative Skills:
- Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with a knack for simplifying complex ideas into persuasive copy.
- Detail-oriented and adaptable, able to pivot messaging based on client feedback or performance insights.
- Collaborative mindset, comfortable working with strategists, designers, and project managers.
