The Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI) is seeking a Faculty member to teach Course 401: GHG Verification for Inventories and Projects, one of the cornerstone offerings in GHGMI's professional certificate curriculum. This is a distinguished appointment, GHGMI Faculty are recognized subject-matter authorities who are entrusted with shaping how GHG management practitioners across the world learn to plan, execute, and complete GHG verification. Stepping into this role means joining a long line of respected experts who have served as instructors for our online course and diploma curriculum. GHGMI extends this appointment only to practitioners whose technical standing and integrity merit continuing that legacy.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Faculty member will lead the instructional delivery of Course 401, an asynchronous, self-paced online course that teaches GHG verification using ISO 14064-3 as its organizing framework. Responsibilities include:
Instruction and facilitation
• Deliver expert instruction for Course 401: GHG Verification for Inventories and Projects, GHGMI's asynchronous online course on planning, executing, and completing GHG verification engagements.
• Facilitate learner engagement throughout each course offering, responding to learner questions and discussion posts in a timely, substantive manner.
• Review, grade, and provide constructive feedback on learner exams.
• Guide learners through providing lessons-learned from your own experience, which may span organizational, national, subnational, and/or project-level verification.
• Uphold GHGMI's academic standards and ensure a rigorous, high-quality learning experience consistent with the Institute's reputation.
Curriculum stewardship
• Maintain and, where appropriate, suggest course content revisions so it reflects current verification standards, including ISO 14064 Part 3, ISO 14065, and evolving international MRV practice.
• Collaborate with GHGMI curriculum and program staff on periodic course review, updates, and continuous improvement.
• Share subject-matter expertise to support related GHGMI capacity-building initiatives, publications, or webinars as opportunities arise.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Substantial (typically 10+ years) professional experience in greenhouse gas measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV), including hands-on GHG verification of inventories and/or projects.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of ISO 14064-1, 14064-2, 14064-3, and 14065, and familiarity with other major verification and assurance standards.
• Experience applying compliance and reporting frameworks and emissions trading systems (e.g., the EU ETS) in a verification or MRV context.
• Direct experience with corporate and/or national GHG emissions inventory management and project-level MRV.
• Strong analytical skills, including experience with data assessment, uncertainty evaluation, and verification risk assessment.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to a global, professional adult-learner audience.
• Ability to work independently and respond to learner queries within 3 business days within a fully remote, asynchronous teaching environment.
• A professional record and reputation consistent with representing GHGMI as the public face of one of its flagship courses.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience designing, delivering, or facilitating training for adult professional learners, particularly in an online or asynchronous format.
• Experience working with accreditation bodies, verification/validation bodies, or third-party assurance providers.
• Background supporting emissions trading systems or carbon market design and implementation.
• Experience with GHG capacity-building program development and delivery, particularly across multiple countries, sectors, or institutional contexts.
• Experience in delivering or taking GHGMI course curriculum and/or programming.
• Advanced degree in environmental science, engineering, climate science, or a related technical field.
• Fluency in one or more additional UN languages, e.g. French, Spanish, Arabic.
• Possesses an Environmental Professional in Greenhouse Gas Management, EP(GHG) certification.

ABOUT COURSE 401
Course 401: GHG Verification for Inventories and Projects provides a step-by-step process for planning, executing, and completing a GHG verification, addressing verification of emissions inventories, carbon credit initiatives, and supply-chain footprints using ISO 14064 Part 3 as its organizing framework. Topics include comparing verification standards and approaches; verifier qualifications and requirements; documentation and control review; data assessment and uncertainty evaluation; risk evaluation; verification strategy development and execution; and evaluation of GHG procedures, illustrated through case studies at the organizational, national, subnational, and project levels.
The course is delivered asynchronously and is available online 24/7. It is designed for management system verifiers, energy and environmental specialists, GHG inventory managers, project developers, corporate sustainability managers, and investors. Courses 201 (Organizational GHG Accounting) and 202 (Project-Level GHG Accounting) are strongly recommended prerequisites for enrolled learners.

COMPENSATION & POSITION TERMS
This is a part-time, contract Faculty appointment, compensated as follows:
• Instruction honorarium: US$60-70 per hour for time spent on instruction-related activities, including learner engagement, grading, and discussion facilitation.
• Fully remote, with a flexible schedule built around the course's asynchronous format. Instructional hours vary depending on course enrollment but typically require faculty working ~5-15 hours/month. Faculty are typically able to conduct this work alongside other full-time/part-time employment.
• Contract term: January 1, 2027-December 31, 2027 (with possibility to renew).
