JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Landscaping Crew Leader is responsible for overseeing a crew of landscape maintenance employees to ensure all landscape projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards. This role combines hands-on fieldwork with leadership responsibilities.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and train crew members to perform at a high standard.
- Delegate daily tasks and ensure team members understand their roles and expectations.
- Conduct quality checks throughout the day to ensure work meets company standards.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive team environment.
- Provide real-time feedback and coaching to improve performance and safety.
Project Execution
- Oversee and participate in mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, mulching, planting, and seasonal cleanup tasks.
- Interpret and execute work orders, job maps, and client instructions accurately.
- Ensure job completion meets deadlines and budgeted labor hours.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding job progress, challenges, or client requests.
Safety & Equipment
- Model and enforce company safety policies
- Conduct daily safety and equipment inspections before work begins.
- Report and document equipment issues, safety incidents, or property damage immediately.
- Ensure crews maintain clean, organized vehicles
Customer Service & Representation
- Act as the on-site company representative when interacting with clients or the public.
- Address client questions or concerns
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver’s license and insurability based on company’s insurance requirements
- 2 or more years of landscaping experience using a zero-turn lawnmower, trimmer, and basic landscaping power equipment
- 1 year of leading landscaping crews
- Ability to drive and back-up a truck and trailer combination
- Ability to lift 25lbs and occasionally 50lbs
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to wear required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Available to work weekends, overtime, and after hours, as needed
- Basic planting and mulching experience
- Experience loading and unloading landscaping vehicles and trailers
- Pesticide License, 3A, 3B or others (Fertilization)
- Bilingual, English and Spanish is a plus
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification
- OSHA certificate
- General knowledge or experience with general construction, hardscaping, and snow removal.
