Description

About the Role

We're looking for a skilled Frontend Web Developer to join our growing digital team. In this role, you'll sit at the intersection of design and technology — bringing creative concepts to life on the web while ensuring sites are fast, functional, and built to rank. You'll work closely with our creative team, SEO strategists, content writers, backend engineers, and account managers to deliver polished web experiences for a diverse client portfolio. This is a highly collaborative role that requires both technical precision and strong communication skills.

What You'll Do

  • WordPress & Shopify Development: Build, maintain, and customize WordPress sites using the SiteOrigin Page Builder and SiteOrigin CSS. Customize Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Pixel-Perfect Execution: Translate design mockups into pixel-accurate, responsive page layouts while maintaining theme consistency across multi-page builds.
  • Plugin & Theme Management: Evaluate, configure, and customize plugins to meet project requirements, writing custom overrides to extend functionality without breaking core updates.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with the creative team for technical feasibility, SEO strategists for on-page optimizations (schema, Core Web Vitals), and backend engineers on API integrations.
  • Quality & Performance: Conduct cross-browser/device QA, optimize assets for Google PageSpeed/Lighthouse targets, and safely apply core updates across staging and production environments.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience building and customizing WordPress sites, with specific hands-on experience using SiteOrigin Page Builder.
  • Proficiency with Shopify theme development, including Liquid templating and the Shopify admin ecosystem.
  • Strong command of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (vanilla JS; jQuery a plus).
  • Experience customizing plugins and writing CSS/JS overrides that survive updates.
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices as they apply to web development (page speed, structured data, semantic markup, Core Web Vitals).
  • Comfort with Git for version control and collaborative development.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to pixel-level accuracy.
  • Nice to have: Experience with Elementor/Divi, Shopify's Dawn theme, REST APIs, or WCAG accessibility standards.

How You'll Work & What Success Looks Like

You'll operate within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment managing a mix of new builds, ongoing retainers, and quick-turn updates. We use Airtable for task tracking and Slack for day-to-day communication, maintaining a regular cadence of standups and sprint check-ins.

  • First 90 Days: You'll take ownership of at least two active client builds, develop working relationships with cross-functional partners, and establish your personal workflow for QA and handoff.
  • Six Months: You'll be the go-to person for WordPress/SiteOrigin and Shopify questions on the team — actively contributing ideas to improve how we build.

Benefits

  • Health, Vision, and Dental insurance
  • Employee 401(k) with 100% match up to 3%, and 50% match on the next 2%
  • 3 weeks paid time off (maximum of 4 weeks with rollover)
  • 10 company holidays
  • 40 hours of sick leave
  • Parental leave
  • Professional development budget for courses, tools, and conferences
