BFS (Built from Scratch) is a cannabis startup aiming to disrupt the cannabis industry and introduce something unprecedented to the Chicago market. Founded by Matthew Brewer and Jessica Lee, both Chicago natives from the South Side, BFS is a black and women-owned company. We have assembled a dream team of entrepreneurs, hospitality operators, lawyers, and business and community leaders who are dedicated to making the cannabis industry accessible to individuals from all backgrounds. We currently operate the Grasshopper Club Dispensary in Logan Square and the South Loop, and we have plans to expand across Chicago.

Grasshopper Club was born out of the vision of a family from the South Side of Chicago who wanted to create a local dispensary that goes beyond just selling cannabis products. As a black-owned business that originates from Chicago, our mission is deeply rooted in heritage and legacy. In addition to providing premium curated products and personalized service, we are committed to creating career paths and ownership opportunities within the Grasshopper Club to foster a more diverse ecosystem in the industry.
