Employment Type: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt 

Reports To: Pharmacy Manager 

Schedule: M-F (9-5PM); Weekends PRN (10-2PM); Shifts to be set during these hours based on staffing needs

Compensation: $18-$22

Job Summary

This position combines specialized non-sterile compounding responsibilities with daily retail pharmacy operations, including prescription processing, medication preparation, inventory management, shipping, and patient communication.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, efficient, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced pharmacy environment while maintaining exceptional accuracy, patient safety, and customer service. We are looking for a dependable, proactive team member who can confidently balance compounding responsibilities with general pharmacy operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, excellent time management, a commitment to patient safety, and a willingness to support all areas of the pharmacy as needed.

What You’ll Do

Non-Sterile Compounding

• Prepare customized non-sterile medications (capsules, creams, gels, ointments, suspensions, troches, suppositories) under pharmacist supervision.
• Weigh, measure, mix, and package ingredients per approved formulation records.
• Complete compounding documentation, including calculations, lot numbers, beyond-use dates, and QC records.
• Perform quality control checks and maintain compliance with USP compounding standards and internal SOPs.
• Clean, maintain, and calibrate compounding equipment and workspace.
• Assist with formulation development and process improvements.

Prescription Processing & Pharmacy Operations

• Assist with prescription intake, data entry, filling, labeling, and packaging under pharmacist supervision.
• Count, measure, and prepare medications for pharmacist verification and dispensing.
• Prioritize workflow to ensure timely completion of patient orders.
• Assist with prescription refills, patient profiles, and routine pharmacy administrative tasks.
• Support pharmacists and technicians with daily operations as needed.

Shipping, Packaging & Inventory Management

• Prepare, package, and coordinate shipment of prescription medications and compounded preparations.
• Generate shipping labels and ensure packaging meets shipping and temperature-control requirements.
• Monitor shipments, maintain records, and resolve delivery issues.
• Maintain adequate inventory of shipping supplies, including boxes, insulated packaging, ice packs, labels, and other materials.
• Receive, inspect, and organize incoming pharmaceutical inventory and compounding ingredients.
• Monitor stock levels and expiration dates, and assist with ordering and reconciliation.
• Ensure proper storage of refrigerated and temperature-sensitive medications.

Patient Communication & Customer Service

• Answer phones and assist patients, prescribers, and healthcare facilities with routine inquiries.
• Coordinate refills, pickups, shipping requests, and delivery arrangements.
• Communicate prescription status, anticipated completion times, and shipping updates to patients.
• Direct clinical questions and medication counseling requests to the pharmacist.
• Help resolve patient concerns and maintain positive relationships.

Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

• Maintain accurate records in accordance with pharmacy policies and regulations.
• Follow established procedures for medication prep, labeling, packaging, and inventory management.
• Assist with quality assurance activities, inventory audits, and routine compliance inspections.
• Identify and report medication discrepancies, compounding errors, inventory concerns, and other quality-related issues to the supervising pharmacist.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pharmacy environment.

This role isn't limited to compounding; you'll also help with prescription fulfillment, shipping, inventory, phones, and other day-to-day pharmacy tasks as needed.

What You’ll Bring

• An active Florida pharmacy technician registration is required. 
• Strong attention to detail, proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
• Non-sterile compounding experience, knowledge of USP compounding standards, and familiarity with pharmacy management software and shipping/inventory processes are preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive hand movements; lift and carry supplies up to 25 lbs; and work with precision and manual dexterity around pharmaceutical chemicals and compounding equipment, following safety protocols.
