Summary

The VP of Real Estate and In-House Appraiser is a full-time position responsible for evaluating and analyzing real estate appraisal reports to ensure accuracy, adherence to guidelines, and supporting value conclusions. This critical role mitigates risk and maintains quality control by reviewing residential and commercial appraisals while ensuring compliance with USPAP, FIRREA, and internal policies. The ideal candidate is an experienced appraiser with a strong understanding of underwriting guidelines, who can work independently and collaborate with the Head of Credit. A minimum of 3 years of appraising experience or appraisal review is required, with potential state-specific licensure.


Essential Functions:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of residential and commercial real estate appraisal reports, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Assess valuation methods, market data, adjustments, and value conclusions for consistency and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with USPAP, FIRREA, and internal company policies during the appraisal review process.
  • Effectively communicate findings, concerns, and recommendations for corrective actions to appraisers, underwriters, and other stakeholders.
  • Recommend re-appraisals or corrective actions when appraisal deficiencies are identified.
  • Contribute to the refinement and development of appraisal review procedures and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of findings, reviews, and correspondence in the CRM/LOS system.
  • Stay up to date with market trends, regulatory changes, and appraisal industry best practices that impact the business.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior team members, fostering development and growth within the team.
  • Participate in weekly one-on-one meetings with your supervisor to track progress and align on objectives.
  • Contribute to quarterly production goals and initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
