WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
As a Goorin Fashion Designer, you are responsible for generating future-shaping, commercial product ideas in support of the concept direction established at seasonal kickoff, and the evolving Goorin brand identity. You will collaborate closely with VP Product & Innovation and the Design & PD teams. You will fully own the design and development of your products, as well as delivering to key GTM deadlines and deliverables.
You will be part of a dynamic, creative environment where you will collaborate closely with talented cross-functional partners in the business, while also being a self-starter well versed at working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing environment. You will partner closely within Design and Product Development, as well as with key cross-functional partners in Merchandising, Sales, and Marketing. You will have a positive attitude and flexible approach, be a reliable and supportive team member, and be inspired to drive positive evolution in our products, brand and team.
YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
· Own design process and deliverables, from initial inspiration to final prototype, including market and trend research, idea development, CAD sketches, technical spec creation, fit development, cost engineering, and ensuring that product meets the business needs as briefed.
· Ensure on-time delivery against all GTM deadlines.
· Leverage the established seasonal vision in your individual design work. Ensure that the product is consistent seasonal POV, while maintaining the brand identity and overall business strategy.
· Partner closely with Product Development team to request and review all raw materials to be sourced.
· Create and update key sell-in tools: VLP (Visual Line Plan) and Presentation Boards for PLM meetings.
· Initiate and accurately maintain the design specs for all products in the Product Lifecycle Management System (Backbone).
· Participate actively during team and individual reviews of sketches and protos, to leverage best practices, and increase impact across the line. Be open to collaborative feedback within the team. Act with urgency to provide revision comments to manufacturers.
· Present and actively participate in seasonal PLM (Product Line Meeting) workshops. Work closely with cross-functional members of the team, to ensure a cohesive and impactful product line is realized.
· Build strong relationships with Merchandising to ensure that creative ideas are aligned with seasonal business goals.
· Travel domestically and internationally 2x year for research & inspiration.
· Travel domestically and internationally 2-3x a year for development at our manufacturers.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
· Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design.
· 3-5 years of professional experience designing apparel and accessories across multiple consumer segments and products.
· Deep understanding of design/development/production cycle processes.
· Ability to create accurate digital and hand sketches.
· Experience creating technical specs to initiate detailed designs with manufacturers.
· Flexible and agile to work on a variety of projects and timelines. Able to adapt to changes in direction and strategy based on new information and evolving trends.
· Exceptional sense of color, and experience initiating and evaluating dips.
· Meaningful knowledge of the aspirational and competitive landscape, including luxury, contemporary, streetwear, sneakers, casual wear, and workwear.
· Deep affinity with the Goorin brand, products, and customers.
· Proficient in Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign and Backbone PLM, Excel, and Outlook.
PAY
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
