Summary/Objective
Golden Oaks Law Group, LLP is a full-service trust and estates law firm. The firm deals with all aspects of wealth management, wealth preservation, wealth transfer, and wealth disputes. As an Accounting Intern, you will support our probate and trust administration practice by assisting attorneys and staff with the preparation of probate accountings, inventories and appraisals, and related financial documentation. This internship provides meaningful hands-on exposure to legal accounting processes and estate administration, and is an excellent opportunity for accounting or finance students interested in the intersection of law and financial practice.
Essential Functions
Probate Accounting Support:
• Probate Accounting Preparation: Assist in the drafting and organization of formal probate accountings, including first and final accounts required for court filing.
• Inventory and Appraisal (I&A): Support the preparation and compilation of Inventory and Appraisal documents (California Form DE-160 or equivalent), including identification and categorization of estate assets.
• Asset and Liability Schedules: Compile, categorize, and reconcile schedules of estate assets and liabilities, including real property, financial accounts, personal property, and debts.
• Receipts and Disbursements: Track and record estate receipts, disbursements, and distributions to ensure accurate accounting records throughout the administration period.
• Statutory Fee Calculations: Assist with the calculation of statutory probate attorney and personal representative fees in accordance with the California Probate Code.
Trust Administration Support:
• Trust Accountings: Assist in the preparation of informal or formal accountings for trust beneficiaries, detailing all receipts, disbursements, and distributions during the administration period.
• Distribution Schedules: Support the drafting of distribution schedules and related documentation to facilitate the transfer of assets to sub-trusts or final beneficiaries.
• Tax Documentation: Gather and organize financial records to support the preparation of estate or fiduciary income tax returns.
Records and Administrative Support:
• Document Organization: Maintain organized financial records, bank statements, brokerage statements, and supporting documentation for open matters.
• Practice Management System: Assist with data entry and maintenance of matter-related financial information in the firm’s practice management software (Actionstep).
• Coordination: Communicate with attorneys and legal staff to gather necessary financial information from clients and third parties as needed.
• General Support: Assist with general accounting and administrative tasks as assigned by supervising attorneys or staff.

$19.00 – $22.00 per hour

Required Education and Experience
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Completion of at least one intermediate accounting course preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential client information with discretion.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in estate planning, probate, or trust administration is a plus but not required.
