The coordinator has primary responsibility and accountability for maintaining accurate patient records and other related clerical duties, and backup telephone responsibilities.  

 

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities


1.     Files all elements of patient records on a daily basis.

2.     Date stamps all clinical notes on a daily basis.

3.     Receives and routes daily incoming mail.

4.     Prepares daily outgoing mail.

5.     Maintains adequate supply of patient clinical record elements and stock of pre-made clinical records available for clinicians.

6.     Protects all clinical records through the establishment and implementation of control procedures for all open and closed records.

7.     Protects the confidentiality of patient and organization information through effective controls and direct supervision of clinical records.

8.     Forwards copies of clinical records to authorized users according to policy.

9.     Completes an administrative record audit following patient discharge and forwards the record to the Clinical Supervisor for clinical audit.

10.     Monitors aged unsigned physician orders and submits second and third requests for signed orders to overdue physicians, calls or visits the offices of seriously overdue physicians.

11.     Supervises the use of the clinical records information system and maintains a comprehensive working knowledge of the system including upgrades and enhancements.

12.     Answers telephone lines promptly and efficiently. Responds to message content appropriately, as instructed.

13.  Special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Position Qualification


1.     High school graduate or equivalent.

2.     Two (2) years data entry experience. Previous computer experience, preferably in home health or similar operation.

3.     Previous health care related billing experience.

4. Demonstrates good communication and public relations skills.

5.     Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.

4.     Business machine knowledge

Salary

$16 - $19 per hour
