Description

POSITION:

The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the execution of all project work in the field to achieve schedule, quality and budget goals. The Superintendent supervises field schedule and logistics while ensuring successful completion of all subcontractor work. The Superintendent (on the field side) works closely with the Project Manager (on the office side) to ensure work quality is consistently monitored, site personnel uphold required safety procedures, issues are reported and resolved quickly and efficiently, and project timelines are maintained. The Superintendent is responsible for developing and maintaining a positive company reputation with the client and community.


This hands-on position is best suited for an individual who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty and has unrelenting high standards for the quality of the work they oversee. The Superintendent must take pride in their work and will be required to problem-solve on the fly, without significant oversight or direction. They should possess the interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and build rapport with both owners / clients as well as specific subcontractors and tradesmen.


Schedule: Monday - Fri (possible weekends)

Time: 7:00am - 4:00pm (varies by project need)

Must be flexible for extended hours / on-call


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum (5) years’ experience in a commercial construction setting as a superintendent preferred
  • High School diploma/GED, or equivalent work experience in a superintendent role
  • Must be proficient in reading and understanding plans, specifications, drawings and project schedules
  • Basic knowledge of project management and scheduling software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Review job specifications and blueprints to determine construction requirements and communicate this information to all relevant parties assigned to the job site
  • Understand material and equipment needs for a project and coordinate their delivery at each phase of the project
  • Communicate the project schedule to the selected subcontractors to ensure they understand deadlines and when they should be onsite. Oversee daily labor levels and adjust as dictated by schedule.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections of trade work, determine that installations are per job specifications, and partner with subcontractors to make corrections when necessary
  • Consistently monitor subcontractor performance and provide feedback regarding their ability to execute high-quality, timely work product
  • Proactively monitor projects to ensure that subcontractors have adequate material and manpower onsite to keep the project in line with financial, operational and scheduling requirements
  • Resolve/diffuse worksite issues quickly and effectively in order to keep production on track
  • Proactively schedule and be present for all City inspections throughout the project to ensure they are passed the first time or implement a plan to get the deficiencies corrected immediately
  • Read change orders and ensure they are worked into the execution of the project in an efficient manner to minimize cost and schedule impacts on the overall project
  • Ensure job sites are kept clean and organized through all phases of construction
  • Make recommendations and offer solutions that improve production effectiveness and safety
  • Monitor compliance with safety training requirements for the job site, participate in safety inspections, and ensure all safety guidelines are being followed on the job site
  • Produce and retain field reports and documentation (i.e. project schedule and cost reports, delay reports, work logs)
  • Produce regular short-term schedule narratives (two-week lookahead) adjust as needed for compliance with the overall project schedule and publish electronically
  • Facilitate weekly jobsite meetings and participate in client meetings to report project progress and resolve outstanding production issues

COMPENSATION:


  • Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $120,000
  • Performance Bonus: Up to 20% annual bonus potential
