This role will work closely with the CEO to oversee all fundraising and marketing efforts and initiatives including Public Relations, fundraising events, marketing campaigns, the administration of a Strategic Advisory Board, grant writing and annual giving. Our current key markets include: Southern California, New York, Seattle, Washington D.C. and Miami. This person will be responsible for a growing team with aggressive goals that includes 2 grantwriters, 3-4 front line fundraisers, and two communication team members.
The Deputy Executive Director (DED) will join a talented team of mission-driven staff and the successful candidate will: Have a proven ability to raise substantial funds through multiple source types (e.g., individual donors, corporate donors, large and small foundations, large and small events, online campaigns), including experience personally securing gifts of six and seven figures. Be an experienced and self-motivated leader who can quickly establish positive and productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including board members, individual donors, corporate giving prospects and internal staff members. Have experience leading a team to achieve strategic goals that encompass individual giving requests, digital campaigns, soliciting annual donations, leading a PR strategy, executing pipeline growth strategies and planning donor events. Be an advocate for youth and excited to play a part in elevating youth voices. Have a start-up mentality and a willingness to try new things that stems from a belief in our mission and a desire to see youth lead across the world.
Role Responsibilities
- Work hand in hand with the CEO to develop and execute organizational strategy, tying in stakeholder engagement opportunities with mission-driven activities for expanding organizational reach.
- Utilizing a strong team, DED will increase revenue and pipeline of stakeholders year over year through consistent communication and opportunities for engagement.
- Report to CEO and Boards on strategy, growth, and areas of opportunity by utilizing internal structures (including salesforce) for data & metrics, holding team members accountable for aggressive outreach and pipeline production goals.
- Collaborate and strategize with Board of Directors, Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) and staff to create, manage and implement an annual giving plan for individual, private foundation and corporate donors.
- Utilize the tools we have in place including our Speaker Bureau, small event templates (event in a box), Virtual and in person panel events, United Nations advocacy (IDG & CSW), youth-organized fundraising efforts, strong communication team, grant writers and others to cultivate current donor’s networks and establish pipelines of new potential donors.
- Work with CEO to vet and hire a PR firm that will effectively help us advocate for youth voices and our internal data and evaluation efforts to reach wider audiences.
- Oversee the development of foundation and corporate proposals, including proposals for brand partnership opportunities and grant proposals; coordinate the production of necessary collateral materials for each submission with communications and program team members
- Work closely with program and advocacy departments for online fundraising campaigns, consistent messaging for giving needs and branding and opportunities for donors to engage meaningfully with Global G.L.O.W./Global Girls Glow’s work
- With the assistance of an event manager, create opportunities for donors to engage with the organization’s work, including U.S. and international hosted trips & site visits of programming, conferences, small fundraising events and large fundraising events
Relevant Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, Master’s Degree and/or CFRE preferred
- Ten years minimum experience in nonprofit fundraising, or other outside sales with experience personally securing gifts of six and seven figures
- Ability to work in a small, fast-paced organization, bringing a team spirit and a positive startup mindset and attitude.
- Ability to work some nights and weekends for events and meetings
- Ability to travel, as needed
