About the Role 

As part of Glide’s much awaited rollout, there is a need to train new users, as well as professionals who can teach mobility using Glide. 

We have opportunities for two part-time, temporary positions. We are looking for someone who is able to travel to onboard Glide pilot testers. This can include traveling to different states for two to four days during a week. There may also be opportunities to conduct half-day or full-day workshops to familiarize other orientation and mobility professionals with Glide and practice techniques for using it as a primary mobility aid. Ideally, one person will primarily handle the Eastern United States, and the other will primarily handle the Western United States. These are remote positions. The term is projected to be 6-12 months for approximately 20 hours per week.

What You'll Do 

 

• Work with Glide pilot testers in their home, work, school, or community environments by helping them get familiar with the Glide device, practicing techniques for using Glide, and experience walking in a variety of settings and situations, progressing from indoor navigation to outdoor mobility. Training will include crossing streets, using public transportation, and more. 
• Collect information about the user’s experience and report on observations of the training and the user’s successes and struggles to be communicated to the Glidance team to inform training, software priorities, and new features. 
• Organize and facilitate half-day and full-day workshops to train orientation and mobility professionals on using and teaching Glide so they are best equipped to train blind and low vision individuals in their communities to use Glide. 

 

What We're Looking For 

• Ability and willingness to travel and stay flexible with changing schedules and locations 
• Energetic, patient, and comfortable connecting both one-on-one and with groups 
• Experience with in-person training, teaching, or coaching 
• Comfortable with hands-on tech — able to troubleshoot in the moment and communicate clearly with engineering when something needs a closer look 
• Quick thinker who can represent Glidance well in unscripted, in-person moments 
• Genuine empathy for people with disabilities and a real desire to be part of the mission 
• Strong communication skills across a range of audiences — from first-time users to trained professionals 
• Comfort working in urban, suburban, and rural settings 
• Lives within an hour’s drive  of a major airport 
• Can rent vehicles and is willing to drive to customers 

 

Highly Desired 

• Experience with Orientation & Mobility training 
• Has a credential as a COMS, NOMC or GDMI
