Position Summary

The Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. Teachers work collaboratively with colleagues to support children's social-emotional growth, facilitate play and inquiry, document learning, and cultivate strong partnerships with families.


Responsibilities

  • Foster a safe, caring, and inclusive classroom community.
  • Build responsive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Support and extend children's play, investigations, and emerging interests.
  • Collaborate with teaching teams to develop and implement emergent curriculum.
  • Observe, document, and reflect on children's learning and development.
  • Maintain an engaging classroom environment that reflects children's thinking and interests.
  • Supervise children indoors, outdoors, and during community experiences.
  • Communicate professionally and positively with families through Brightwheel and in person.
  • Maintain compliance with all California Community Care Licensing regulations and program policies.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings, professional development, and reflective practice.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 12 ECE units required by California Community Care Licensing.
  • Experience working with young children in a licensed early childhood setting.
  • Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to employment).
  • Ability to pass all required background clearances.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.


Preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with Reggio Emilia, emergent curriculum, project-based learning, or nature-based education.
  • Knowledge of child development and positive guidance practices.
  • Experience with classroom documentation and family engagement.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and actively engage with children indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to supervise children outdoors in varying weather conditions.
