Position Summary

The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment while leading classroom operations, supporting children's development, mentoring teaching staff, and partnering with families. The Lead Teacher works collaboratively with the Director and teaching team to implement a play-based, emergent curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy.


Responsibilities

  • Create a warm, inclusive, and responsive classroom environment
  • Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate learning experiences
  • Observe, document, and support children's learning and development
  • Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment
  • Guide children's social-emotional growth through positive behavior support
  • Build strong relationships with children and families
  • Collaborate with colleagues during weekly planning meetings
  • Mentor Assistant Teachers and support classroom teamwork
  • Communicate regularly with families through Brightwheel and conferences
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing and health and safety requirements
  • Participate in professional development and school events


Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
  • Meets California Teacher Permit requirements or higher
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a licensed preschool setting
  • Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practice
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with Reggio Emilia, emergent curriculum, project-based learning, or play-based education preferred
  • Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to pass all required background clearances

Pay

$25–$30 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Salary
