The AfterSchool Staff member is responsible for assisting with the supervision, safety, and engagement of children in after-school care programs. They ensure a fun, safe, and structured environment for children while supporting academic and recreational activities.

Glen Urquhart School (GUS), is an independent, coeducational day school for students in Pre-K through grade eight. Located 45 minutes north of Boston in Beverly Farms, GUS was founded in 1977 with an experiential, place-based philosophy that integrates all subjects and creates opportunities for students to be passionate in their pursuit of knowledge.

Description

Key Responsibilities: The essential functions of this position will include the following:

  • Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring safety and appropriate behavior.
  • Provide academic support by helping students with homework or school projects.
  • Support children in developing social, emotional, and physical skills.
  • Maintain a positive, welcoming environment for children and parents.
  • Ensure all children are accounted for and safely dismissed to parents or designated individuals.
  • Monitor children's behavior, resolving conflicts in a positive and effective manner.
  • Prepare and clean up activities and spaces before and after each session.
  • Report any incidents or concerns to the supervisor promptly.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children, ideally in a school or daycare setting.
  • Ability to engage with children of varying ages and create an inclusive environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.


Schedule

  • Hours may vary based on school schedule and assignment. 
  • Typical hours will be 2:30pm - 5:30pm
  • Must commit to a minimum of 3 days per week 



Salary

$18 - $22 per hour
