ESSENTIAL Responsibilities & Duties
General
- Develop a deep knowledge of Merit’s/Give Merit’s history, purpose, and goals to create platforms for young people to create the future
- Support organizational special projects and other duties as assigned by supervisor and senior leadership
- Work toward the organization’s shared vision by being mission-driven and operating with a growth mindset
- Seek, be accepting of, and adjust to regular feedback to improve performance
FATE High School Program Coordination
- Effectively uphold program mission, values, and goals while supporting delivery of FATE programming
- Support the HS Program Director and team in the preparation and delivery of the FATE program
- Serve as a key member of the FATE HS Program Team including HS Program Director, Program Leads, and another Program Coordinator
- Establish and sustain meaningful, positive relationships with students
- Support program team members in workshop preparation, setup and execution and clean-up, to include but not limited to, curriculum facilitation as needed, room setup and breakdown, material preparation and distribution, student engagement, and managing cohort trackers/internal data
- Provide support on program special projects related to social media, CRM, events, or similar areas, as needed
- Required to work some evenings and/or weekends in accordance with programmatic needs and/or events
- Perform other duties as assigned
FATE High School Mentor Recruitment and Support
- Effectively perform mentor management functions to best support FATE mentors in their support of FATE students
- Provide strong and timely communication to all prospective and participating mentors
- Efficiently utilize the systems and processes created to support recruitment, training, and relationship development
- Conduct the applicable recruitment process to include informational sessions, application review, and interviews in a timely manner
- Facilitate the initial and on-going mentor trainings
- Ensure positive and meaningful mentor and mentee relationship development in accordance with programmatic policies and expectations
- Coordinate workshop logistics to include but not limited to mentor transportation, communication of workshop details, and mentor engagement
- Provide student org advising and management to a group of University of Michigan mentors
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, preferred
- Passion for serving the Detroit community, especially youth
- Has a growth mindset and views growth as important for personal and professional development; seeks out opportunities to expand skills, and demonstrates curiosity and eagerness to learn
- Personal understanding and knowledge of the demographics, challenges, and changing landscape of Detroit
- Drive to impact change for our students
- Ability to bring the absolute best out of individuals
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability with managing multiple tasks with time sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Must have a high sense of integrity and handle confidential information in a professional manner
- Exhibit strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Familiarity with Google applications (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive)
- Ability to adapt to new technology and/or applications
- Must be able to work some evenings and weekends
- Must have reliable transportation
WORK SCHEDULE
During the Program Year, this position’s schedule operates as follows:
Monday - Thursday 10:00AM - 6:0PM
Friday - 9AM - 5PM
